ALLERGIC REACTIONS

➲ An allergic reaction is the body's way of responding

to an "invader." When the body senses a foreign
substance, called an antigen, the immune system is
triggered.
➲ Its overreaction to a harmless substance (an
allergen) is called a hypersensitivity reaction, or an

PREVENTION OF ALLERGIC REACTIONS

 Avoid Allergen.
 Find out the composition or content of any food or
medicine.
 Make it a habit to read labels listed outside the
packaging.
 Introduce new foods in small portions so you can find
allergy reaction

ALLERGIC REACTION MANAGEMENT

➲ Self-Care at Home

 Calm patients, anxiety can worsen allergic reactions.

 Identify the allergens and then move away
 If the patient fill itching, use cold compresses and apply
a hydrocortisone ointment.
 Give an antihistamine drug.

 Ask whether the patient took the drug allergies, and help give
to drink the medicine.
 Avoid oral medication if the person is hard to swallow.
 Bring immediately to the doctor to get an injection of
