Dr. Farooq Ahmad Bhatti Lec Maryam Rasool Proposal Agenda Background Purpose and importance of study Literature review Problem Statement Methodology and Study design Advantages Application References Background MIMO system is essentially a wireless system with multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver ends. As the demand of high data rate is increasing day by day with increasing number of users, no other channels are available in base station controller (BSC) to accommodate the users which are beyond the threshold level. Compared to the conventional wireless systems, the main advantages of the MIMO systems are the higher system capacity. Polarization loss factor is another issue that needs to be addressed. To generate circular polarization both vertical and horizontal components with equal magnitude and 90 degree phase difference needs to be generated. In this work, two ground radiation slot type antennas with polarization diversity performance will be proposed for USB dongle application with MIMO operation. Literature Review L. Qu, H. Piao, Y. Kim, "Circularly polarized loop-type ground radiation antenna for mobile devices using a resonance inductor and capacitor," Electronics Letters, Vol. 54, No. 5, pp. 262–264, Mar. 2018 Ground size Problem Statement We will design Electrically small slot antenna embedded in the ground plane (60×30 mm2, 50×50 mm2) of a mobile device. The antenna will be able to generate circularly polarized (CP) waves to reduced polarization loss factor. The design will be extended to MIMO configuration using polarization diversity and passive isolator. Methodology and Study Design Design of single slot antenna on FR4 substrate. Design the slot antenna embedded in the ground plane to achieve Circular Polarization. Insert the reactive elements to get impedance matching and resonance frequency at 2.45 GHz. Convert the single slot antenna into MIMO and using an isolator in order to reduce the mutual coupling (S12). Applications
