Excellence
INDUSTRY & BUSINESS LINKAGE
 Create more avenues for academia-industry interaction to include
more industries and Universities. Currently highly polarised to ‘premier
institutions’ only.
 Industry skill set development courses can be made mandatory at
University itself.
 Take the probation period training of fresh graduates in industry to
University level itself. Saves work time and resources.
 Industries and Industry bodies can tie up with Universities to conduct
pooled skill development programs.
 Identify Universities with specialised abilities to set up Technology
Development Centres in current and futuristic technologies.
 Academia – Industry joint curriculum development with joint
certification.
 Academia – Industry interaction with society and public representatives
to understand practical requirements.
FUNDING PATTERN
 Funding to emphasise more on outcome of research and its
relevance .
 Decentralise funding to more sector specific agencies. Too
much funds concentrated with a few agencies at present.
 Rope in Industry to participate more actively in funding on
current research.
 A portion of taxes paid by Industry may be allotted by
Government directly to industry to help fund such research.
 Funding can give preference to collaborative research
between academic institutions and academia – industry
interactive research. Helps in developing a wider pool of
researchers and spreading of research techniques and
ideas.
ISSUES
 BUDGET :
 As during current financial year an amount of Rs.30 crores is
released. Another 64 crores may be released to meet
immediate requirements.
