 Malfunction Indicator lamp & Data Link Connector

2. DLC
The ECM also performs the diagnostic functions of the system. It can recognize
operational problems, alert the driver through the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp)
and store diagnostic trouble codes(DTCs) which position the problem parts to aid
the technician in repairing. In case of intermittent faults, If the faults are eliminated
during driving, the ECM command the MIL off but trouble codes remain even in the
event of ignition cycle. Data Link Connector (16 pins) is located under IP panel of
co-driver seat.

 Self diagnosis
1. Self diagnosis procedure (Only IEFI-6, ITMS-6F)
Self diagnosis is a procedure to enable the ECM to express its stored trouble codes
by flashing the MIL according to predetermined process.
• IGN off
• Jump the terminal “6” and “4” or “5” of the DLC
• IGN on
• The MIL flashing
The times of the flashing represents the stored codes in the ECM. Initially the
number “12” is displayed three times, which does not mean any trouble actually.
After that, recorded trouble codes are displayed three times. Now trouble codes
cycles by that way respectively. Displaying order is numerical regardless the order
they are stored.

2. Erasing method trouble codes


If a intermittent trouble disappears, about ten seconds later the MIL goes off.
The way to delete history trouble codes
• Erase command of the scan-100
• IGN off and remove the main fuse or the battery terminal for over 10 sec.
• IGN off and remove the battery for over 10 sec.

* MR 140
The MIL turns off after 3 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault.
The way to delete history trouble codes
• Erase command of the scan-100
• IGN off and remove the main fuse or the battery terminal for over 10 sec.
• After 40 consecutive warm up cycles without a fault.
