3. Fuel pump circuit (MR 140)

1) Fuel pump circuit inspection


Turn the ignition on, measure the voltage between the ECU terminal “K54” and ground.
For 2 seconds you can measure 12 V, and then which goes down to 0V, otherwise you
should inspect related DTCs or ECM main power or IGN power supply or ground.
2) Current of fuel pump
(1) Remove the fuel pump relay.
(2) IGN on, measure the current between the relay terminal “30” and “87”.
If the fuel pump is not working or the current is too low, check the connectors or ground.
If the return line is clogged or pinched, high current is measured.

Reference current 5 ~ 6A

4. Fuel pump circuit (IPCM-6KD)

1) Fuel pump circuit inspection


Turn the ignition on, measure the voltage between the ECU terminal “E13” and ground.
For 2 seconds you can measure 12V, and then which goes down to 0V, otherwise, you
should inspect related DTCs or ECM main power or IGN power supply or ground.
If OV is measured continuously, inspect if “E13”, the relay and the wiring is open.

2) Current of fuel pump


(1) Remove the fuel pump relay.
(2) IGN on, measure the current between the relay terminal “30” and “87”.
If the fuel pump is not working or the current is too low , check the connectors or ground. If
the return line is clogged or pinched, high current is measured.

Reference current 5 ~ 6A

 Evaporative Emission Canister


The evaporative emission canister is a
kind of emission control device
containing activated charcoal granules.
The evaporative emission canister is
used to store fuel vapors from the fuel
tank. Once certain conditions are met,
the ECM activates the controlled canister
purge solenoid allowing the fuel vapors
to be drawn into the engine cylinders and
burned.
The canister is located on the right upper
side of the fuel tank.
