 Mode of Action
 Dydrogesterone is an orally active Progestogen which acts
directly on the uterus
 Producing a complete secretory Endometrium in an
estrogen primed uterus
 Helps to regulate the healthy growth and normal shedding
of womb lining by acting on progesterone receptors in the
uterus
 Top indications
 Habitual and Threatened Abortion
 Infertility due to luteal insufficiency
 Endometriosis
 Amenorrhea (primary or secondary)
 Irregular periods in young females
 Dysmenorrhea
 Registered as Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT)
 Dosage

Threatened Abortion
 40mg at once then 10mg every 8 hours until symptoms remit
Habitual Abortion
 10mg twice until 20th week of pregnancy
 In Dysfunctional bleeding (to arrest bleeding), 10mg twice
daily for 2 to 7 days.
 Dosage (cont.)

 Amenorrhea:
An estrogen once daily from day 1 to day 25 of the cycle,
together with 10mg Dydrogesterone cis isomer twice daily
from day 11 to day 25 of the cycle
 Irregular cycles:
10mg twice daily from day 11 to day 25 of the cycle
 Infertility due to luteal insufficiency:
10mg daily from day 14 to day 25 of the cycle. The treatment should
be continued for at least 6 consecutive cycles
 Hormonal Replacement
Therapy

As Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) to

counteract the negative effects of unopposed
estrogen on the endometrium.

In combination with continuous oestrogen therapy, one tablet of

10mg of Dydrogesterone CIS Isomer daily during 14 consecutive
days per cycle of 28 days
 Why Dirogest, because

 Does not compromise beneficial actions of estrogen

 Potent, orally active progesterone at low dosages
 have highly selective progestogenic properties with the
oral progestogenic potency 20-times higher than natural
progesterone.
 indicated in all cases of relative or absolute endogenous
progesterone deficiency.

 Dirogest have no effect on the fertility of the offspring at

recommended dosage and have no effects on
ovulation.
 Dirogest is free from effects on carbohydrate
metabolism, does not causes change in body weight,
blood pressure, glucose tolerance or blood lipid
ratios.
