- The beliefs of love at first sight.
INFORMATIVE SPEECH:
SPEECHES ABOUT PROCESSES

• A process is the manner in which something is created, made, done, or

THE PERSUASIVE SPEECH:

• A persuasive speech is a specific type of speech in which the

speaker has a goal of convincing the audience to accept his or her
point of view. The speech is arranged in such a way as to hopefully
cause the audience to accept all or part of the expressed view.
• It usually challenges an audience’s beliefs.
TYPES OF PERSUASIVE SPEECHES:

There are three main types of persuasive speeches:

• Questions of fact
• Questions of policy
• Questions of value
PERSUASIVE SPEECH:
QUESTION OF FACT
• Is based on whether or not a particular topic is true, and is backed by
concrete evidence. This type of speech persuades the audience as to whether
something exists or does not exist, whether it happened or did not happen.

EXAMPLE:
- Forinstance, a college student giving a speech about Neil Armstrong
landing on the moon in 1969 is an example of factual persuasive speech.
The moon landing by Neil Armstrong is well documented and has
concrete evidence that supports the fact that it did happen.
PERSUASIVE SPEECH:
QUESTION ABOUT POLICY
• Is a speech about whether or not something is right or wrong. It questions
the moral or ethical aspect of an issue.
• Question of policy ask the writer to explain what they would do. The key
word in these topics is usually “should” as in “what should we do”. The
question asks the writer to create a plan of action to solve some sort of
problem.

EXAMPLE:
- If the president of the United States disagreed with the current foreign policy
and gave a speech to Congress with the goal of convincing them to agree with
his viewpoint, it would be considered a policy persuasive speech.
PERSUASIVE SPEECH:
QUESTION OF VALUE
• Is a speech about whether or not something is right or wrong. It questions the
moral or ethical aspect of an issue.

EXAMPLE:
- Have you ever thought about whether or not capital punishment is moral or
immoral? If you were to give a speech about your stance on the morality of
capital punishment, that would be an example of value persuasive speech.
SPEECHES FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS
• A special occasion speech is really nothing more than a speech given for
a special occasion. They are given for a few reasons. It may be to
introduce a person; to toast a special occasion, like a wedding or even a
roast; or poke fun at a person.
• Intended remarks must be accurate. For example, if someone is presenting
an award and intends to begin with interesting facts about the recipient,
those facts must be correct.
• In the moment of deliver a speech the speaker should possess an
understanding of the different types of speeches and have their objective
clearly in mind, they will be capable of delivering of the speech that the
audience will remember for a long time to come.
