How to Replace an FLC Board (FLCSERVICE, FLCCONGI)

Preconditions

The execution of this procedure can interrupt the DCC traffic from/to the system.

– Both FLC systems are installed with the same software release (redundant system).

– The FLC systems of the network element must be configured properly.

– The defective FLC should be in status passive. In case of active defective FLC execute the FLC EPS
switch using the EP dialog “Edit” –> “FLC EPS Switch”.

– Disable an already established F–Interface connection.

How to Replace an FLC Board (FLCSERVICE, FLCCONGI)

Replace the defective FLC

(1) Shut down the defective FLC using the EP dialog via CT if the FLC is still operable

Edit –> Set out of service –> Standby FLC

Edit –> Shutdown –> ’Out of Service’ FLC

If the FLC is blocking (even not operable via debugger session), you have to continue with step (2)).

(2) Plug out the defective FLC

After ~1 min. plug out the defective FLC.

How to Replace an FLC Board (FLCSERVICE, FLCCONGI)

Execute following commands to check the CSServer persistency on both FLCs:

log

tail –10 F_CSServer

Display on screen:

<data> <time> >Recovery – saveConfigData: Save config data

successfully finished<

Wait 1 minute if the message did not appear yet.

(5) Configure the new FLC

The following steps have to be performed after inserting an additional FLC into Single
FLC NE Shelf:

Wait until the installation of the new FLC is finished successfully – this step will finish with
the startup of the passive application on the newly installed FLC.

The application on both FLCs should run in ACTIVE/PASSIVE state. Log in as user appl
onto one of the FLCs (refer to chapter 16.3 Log in on FLC Board) and execute the
following commands:

How to Replace a Matrix Board (MX160/320/640)

 Never plug out an matrix board while it is active. This causes traffic interruption of more than 100
ms. During the extraction of the matrix board the contacts of matrix board connectors chatter
with backpanel connectors. As a consequence, the plug out of an active matrix in one node,
neighbour nodes detect line alarms even persistency time is configured for 100 ms. The fault
triggers a restoration in GMPLS networks.

 In case of plug in a new matrix board it is necessary to wait min. 45 minutes before switch over this
board from the stand–by mode to the active mode. This waiting time is mandatory for a complete
synchronization of the new matrix board.

Otherwise traffic hits can occur!

How to Replace a LAX Board (LAX40/20)

 The replacement of a LAX board is not hitless.

 Never plug out a LAX board while it is active. This causes traffic interruption of more than 100 ms.

 Perform the following steps to replace a LAX board:

 Via NM/CT perform a forced switch operation to the LAX board that you do not want to replace.
This operation is not hitless!

 Replace the switched LAX board (i.e. that does not carry the traffic) by the new LAX board.

 Via NM/CT release the forced switch on the LAX board.

How to Replace a Power Supply Filter (PSF)

 Ensure that the second PSF board is inserted, works properly, has no active alarms and the green LED is lit.
Do not plug out any PSF boards or disconnect any power cables before switching off the concerned fuse in
the NGTRU! This can cause a flashover at the PSF board power connectors or at the backpanel pins.
 Turn off the power of the replacing PSF board. Therefore switch off the concerned fuse in the NGTRU.
 Disconnect the power cables on the front side.
 Plug out the PSF board and remove it.
 Plug in the new PSF board.
 Connect the power cables on the front side.
 Turn on the power of the new PSF board. Therefore switch on the according fuse in the NGTRU.
 Check that the green LEDs of both PSF boards are lit.
