Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND IT'S SCOPE
INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study
A growing educators are united around the idea that
students need 21st Century Skills to be successful in
today’s generation. It’s exciting to believe that one
lives in times that are so revolutionary that they
demanded new and different abilities.
Objectives of the Study

Preferences of students in today’s generation.

• To find out if students nowadays haven’t already


developed their skills and chose their preferred
tracks.

Statement of the Problem
The study determined the 21st century skills and
track preferences of Grade 10 students of Tabogon
Roosevelt High School, Tabogon, Cebu, S.Y. 2018-
2019.
The study will seek answers to the
following questions:

Research Methodology
• This study utilized the descriptive - correlational
method of research with the use of modified
questionnaire.

Research Environment
The study will be conducted at the
Tabogon Roosevelt High School,
Tabogon District and Cebu Province
Division. It takes 15 minutes ride by
motorcycle from Labangon,
Tabogon, Cebu, 5 minutes ride by a
bus from Don Gregorgio Antigua,
Borbon, Cebu. Tabogon Roosevelt
High School is a non-sectarian
private school in the District of
Tabogon which at present is on its
fifth year of implementing the K to
12 Curriculum.
Research Participants
One section from the one class to researcher was
handling in school year 2018-2019 will be selected as
a research subject for this study. This is for
accessibility and convenient purpose of the
researcher. The characteristics will be considered
from the group of learners by identifying their skills
and track preferences.
Research Instruments
• The study will use a survey questionnare to gather
data. The content of the questionnare is adapted
from individual questions constructed by the
researcher. The instrument will be tested with
Cronbach Alpha for reliability.
Research Procedure
This section presents the method of data gathering
and statistical treatment used.
Gathering of Data
The researchers will be sending letters or permission
to the principal to conduct a study. Having the
approval of the school principal, a letter to the
respondent was sent. The questionnare was
distributed personally by the researcher to the
student respondents. The item/s in the instrument
was explained carefully to the participants and giving
them assurance that responses were used for the
purpose of the study and were treated with utmost
confidentiality.
Treatment of Data
Frequency Count Percent were used to summarize
and analyze the profile of the respondents.

Fisher’s Exact Test was used to determine the


significance of the relationship between the
respondents profile and their skills.

Chi – square Test were used to interpret the profile


and career choices of respondents
Definition of Terms
Profile. This refers to the students sex, person’s
infuential in the choice of career track, school
preferences and average scholastic rating in Grade 9

Track Preferences. This refers to the students track


preferences in terms of academic, arts and design,
sports track and technical vocational track.
Proposed Action Plan. This refers to the proposed
recommendation given by the researchers who wish
to employ collaborative learning as instructional
strategy in identifying the skills and track preferences
of the students.
