1. The document outlines 7 environmental principles: (1) Nature knows best and maintains equilibrium; (2) All forms of life are important to ecosystems; (3) Everything is interconnected in complex relationships; (4) Everything changes in cyclic patterns; (5) By-products return to soil but plastics do not degrade naturally; (6) Resources are finite and slow to replenish; (7) Humans have a duty as stewards to conserve and protect nature as God's creation.
2. The Philippines has high biodiversity but is also highly threatened, home to many endemic and endangered species like the Philippine eagle and tamaraw.
3. Several laws have been enacted to protect

Principles By: Cherrymae Acoba 1. Nature knows best. • State of equilibrium • If not maintained negative impacts arises • Ex. Nutrient Cycle

2. All forms of life are equally important. • Created for a purpose • If one is extinct its like removing a piece jigsaw puzzle from the web of LIFE • Ex. Food chain

• The Philippines ranks high among the biodiversity hotspots – the richest but the most threatened of terrestrial ecosystems in the world. The Philippines has rich flora and fauna: an estimated 13,500 plant species, 80 amphibians, 240 reptiles, 556 birds, 174 mammals, 300 corals, 27 mangrove species. Of these, approximately 75% are endemic. Some of the threatened species are the Philippine eagle (Pythecophaga jefferyi), Philippine crocodile (Crocodylus mindorensis), and Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis).

3.Everything is interconnected. • Very intricate relationship • Ex. Human interaction with nature

4. Everything changes. • Ex. Seasons are cyclic changes that contributes to the diversity of flowers, fruits, vegetables and crops.

5. Everything must go somewhere. • The by-products of metabolism returns to soil and is converted to minerals to be gain and absorbed by plants

5. Everything must go somewhere. PLASTIC? • They are not recognized by natural bacteria's • Cannot be broken into parts These must enter into another material cycle where these are manufactured into a NEW PRODUCT. They cannot pollute water and land habitats

6. Ours is a finite Earth. • Nowadays some are extracted regularly but are slow to replace (limit of supply) • Ex. Increasing of population

7. Nature is beautiful and we are steward’s of God’s creation. • Borrowers of Earths resources • We are to conserve and protect Nature

7. Nature is beautiful and we are steward’s of God’s creation. • Theologians explain that there are different levels of this relationship. First is a relationship determined by dominion of humans over creation, that humans can do as they wish because this was given by God. The book of Genesis says “have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air…” The second level is one of stewardship, that of a caretaker where humans are not owners but guardians of the integrity of nature. The third level promotes a kinship relationship postulated by St. Francis de Assisi in the famous verse “Bother sun, Sister moon”, where humans are no higher than the birds and fishes of the sea. Fourth is one of sacrament, where nature becomes a testimony of God’s love. Fifth is a covenant relationship, where protection of the earth is a life mission manifested in the things that we do and say. Your Logo or Name Here 11 7.
