Deforestation in Borneo
Facts:
• Taken place since the 1960s
• Borneo, the third largest island in the world, including three countries, was once covered by rainforests
• Peak deforestation occurs between the 80s and 90s due to human activities. One of them includes rapid palm oil production

Positive feedbacks:
• The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation(BOS)’s project bought up nearly 2000 hectares of deforested land and covered it
in alang-alang grass
• It is done to restore the rainforest to rehabilitate orangutans and being a source for the locals
