To teach GCs about basic ldrship quals which are req in a

good offr

 INTRO
 Ldrship quals do not have any set rules. It is, indeed, an
amalgamation of mannerism, mil traditions and established
pracs
 Ldrship qualities are superset of essential qualities req in a
good human being. These quals encompass the entire
spectrum of personality traits, chars, conduct in routine
affairs and sense of duty and responsibility
 Offrs lacking ldrship quals do not comd respect of their UCs,
peers and superiors. Every YO must endeavor to abide by them
as it will in turn, also help to strike a bal in professional and
social cmt

 INTRO

 None of the present day rules for behavior in society are

foreign to us. Most of these are rules derived from our
religion and should be fol endearingly
 Customs followed by other cultures must be understood so
that annoyance is not caused particularly when we move
about in an intl envmt

 Criticism of other members of the mess and topics on

religion and politics should be avoided
 An offr always fol mess menu and never request the mess
staff to keep the food for next day
 An offr never borrows anything from mess (magazines,
newspapers, books or movies should not be carried to the
rooms)
 Participate actively in mil dinners and funcs and don’t
avoid them with intent to save money

 Offr always conduct himself in most dignified and bal
manner which makes him stand out and be recognized as
an offr
 Offr does not indulge in acts of moral turpitude (drinking,
narcotics, extra marital affairs, fin embezzlement etc)
 There is a common tendency to fall for such evils, not
realizing the devastating consequences
 YOs remain in a false impression that such immoral acts
fall in the cat of style and being modern, such acts are
morally, ethically and professionally unacceptable

 EVENING ACTIVITIES/ ECA
 Never indulge in fights over sports matches in the name of
regt. Winning or losing is immaterial; always adhere to the
basic essence of such competitions
 Wrong lessons are imparted to UCs, if offrs fight amongst
each other for such petty issues
 Never involve himself in man handling/ phy gestures. If
fight is enforced than reflect SPJ quals and decide what is
the best not only for yourself but also for the reputation of
Army
 Always address your UC by name or mil rank specifically
during sports activities and off parade timings

 Be reg in phy trg and fol the timings. It is better for an offr
to come five mins prior than being late by five mins
 Always wear neat and clean PT kit
 Keeps himself phy fit and leads his men from the front
during any challenge and never feels shy/ hesitant of
toiling/ working on gr with tps
 Offrs soon after joining units put on extra wt and become
phy unfit, it causes embarrassment for the unit as well as
offr who finds it difficult to keep pace with sldrs in trg. Due
to wt gain offrs suffer diseases

 PT GR/ TRG ACTIVITIES
 If late from PT/ trg activity do not give excuse to cover yourself
rather, accept your mistake, offer apology and join your men.
 Offrs giving lame excuses (sickness, family issues, tpt) on
getting late from various activities which is highly undesirable
and un-offr like

 Be good in firing skills and know fairly well about your trg reqs. It
has been obsr that units suffer during firing/ aslt course
competitions because of weak firing skills/ techs of offr’s

 Being a ldr of men an offr must be able to impart basic trg skills/
techs to his UCs

 Offr is known for his decency, smart outlook and sharp
demeanor. At times offr’s wear inappropriate civ pattern

 Remember that the sldr of today is usually well educated

and you will get the best results from him by showing your
superiority in professional knowledge and competence.

 If a sldr sees his Coy offr sitting in a veh during route

march he will never respect him willingly

 During discussion with snrs, jnrs or equals the offr

remains cool, calm and collected, gives view with logic

and does not prove his pt rt through heated arguments

 While addressing a snr, always adopt proper procedure.

Off late a trend of calling the snr by their names or “SIR

YAR” etc has crept in, which is highly against the mil

norms and customs

based on ranks and apt

 Regardless of rank/ apt, offr ensures bal in his overall

personality which he reflects in his conduct, behavior,

with snrs/ jnrs

 Offr always takes pride in his profession, regt, rank and

saluting/ wishing, never hesitates/ gets complacent in saluting

 CASE STUDY
2/ Lt Faheem was driving his new car on motorway. Offr was
on his way to join his unit after having being recently passed
out from PMA. In enthusiasm and excitement of a new car and
a new beginning as an offr, he did not realise and drove at 145
km/ hr, above the auth limit of speed on motorway. His car was
stopped by the motorway police. The warden asked 2/ Lt
Faheem to show his driving license and briefed him about his
speed. Offr did not possess driving license, and instead of
realizing his mistake and coop with the tfc warden, he tried to
stamp his auth by showing his PAID card saying that I’m an
Army offr so let me go

Tfc warden again requested for the license, on which 2/ Lt
Faheem became a little agitated and started to argue back. In
a short span of time the debate got heated and 2/ Lt Faheem
jumped out of his car, got aggressive and started pushing the
warden for not letting him go since he has proved his ident as
an Army offr. In no time a few set of indls had crowded the
place and started making videos

 Maint a dignified life style based on immaculate dressing,
use of high quality toiletries, room decoration, messing
and means of tpt etc while managing your fin aspects
 Always use personal bedding and avoid sharing it with
other offrs
 Try to be as eco as possible, w/o compromising on the
std of living
 Keep your room well furnished to maint decent living std
and do not entirely depend on MES fur
 Plan decent colour scheme for walls of your room and
avoid dark colours

and avoid taking loans
 Snr most offr must take lead in paying for his jnrs but at
the same time jnrs must also understand their resp (no
American sys concept)
 Always wear clo which fit comfortably and do not adopt
clo fashions which make you an object of ridicule
 Offrs must observe the traditions concerning dress on
special occasions/ festivals

various types of dresses and colour combinations:-
 Avoid bold and shining colours
 Try not to wear lining/ checkered shirts

GC Mujtaba, during his end term lve, visited his college friends
in their university. GC had not shaved since the start of his lve,
he was shabbily dressed, wearing a dark/ shiny coloured shirt
and torn jeans with open sandals. GC along with his friends
and a couple of other students sat in the cafeteria of the
university and had lt snacks. During the course, the students
started discussing about Pak Army and its role in ops in the
erstwhile FATA. Both the students started criticizing the role of
army with irrelevant facts. GC got frustrated and lost his
emotions. He started to speak in a high tone and lost his
composure

in FATA. Instead, the GC just took out his anger on the
students and scuffle broke out. GC Mujtaba’s friends tried to
intervene and stop the heated engagement. Meanwhile, a
