What is climate change ?

• Are both about giving priority to the protection


of the environment by passing laws and plans
such as establishing the Commission on Climate
Change to assess the ability of the government to
move the people to fight the negative effects of
climate change.

REPUBLIC ACT 9729


Republic Act 9729

• It aims to include in a systematic way of


concept of climate change in policy making
and in the development plans of all
government agencies.

• It calls for the State to integrate the concept of


climate change in various phases of policy
formulation, development plans, poverty reduction
strategies, and other government development
tools and techniques.
(Biofuels Act of 2006)

REPUBLIC ACT 9367


Republic Act 9367

• It states that the country should


decrease its dependence on
imported fuels to protect the
public’s health, the ecosystem,
and the environment.

• it is to develop and utilize indigenous renewable


and sustainably-sourced clean energy sources to
reduce dependence on imported oil.

and income.

• ensure the availability of alternative and


renewable clean energy without any detriment to

REPUBLIC ACT 8749


Republic Act 8749

• the main objective of this law is


to have clean air that can be
safely breathed by the people.

• It sets a standard on the amount and quality


of smoke emitted by automobiles wherein only
those who pass the standard will be given
vehicle registration.

• It also limits the pollutants that industries


may emit.

• This law prohibits incineration and smoking


cigarette in public.

• Local government units encourage the


public to recycle.

REPUBLIC ACT 9003


Republic Act 9003

• It is to adopt a systematic, comprehensive and


ecological program to make sure that solid waste
are not going to be harmful to the public’s health
and to the environment.

• It emphasizes having mechanism on the


implementation of effective programs for
solid waste management.

Some of the important provisions of this law include:

a) Setting a standard on a systematic collection of garbage and its disposal


without putting the health of garbage collectors in jeopardy
b) Campaigns to place eco-labeling on local goods and services
c) Prohibit products and packaging that are bad for the environment
d) Establishment of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in every
barangay and clusters
e) Prohibit throwing of garbage anywhere
Republic Act 9003

Some of the important provisions of this law include:

f) Setting regulations and criteria in assigning sanitary landfills

g) Provisions for rewards, incentives (monetary & non-monetary), financial


aid and others as these to encourage the local units of the government to
design effective methods on solid waste management

h) Campaigns to encourage research on waste disposal and


widening the public’s knowledge of the environment in a
formal and informal manner
