IELTS/PTE
The International English Language Testing
System, or IELTS™, is an international
standardized test of English language proficiency
for non-native English language speakers. It is
jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS
Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and
was established in 1989. In IELTS there are
mainly four modules namely WRITING, READING,
LISTENING and SPEAKING , writing and reading
modules both are of 60 minutes whereas listening
is of 45 minutes and speaking is only of 11-14
minutes. PTE is similar to IELTS but is a computer
based test while IELTS is pen paper test
 WRITING
In IELTS/PTE, writing module is of 60 minutes. Writing
module contains two tasks namely task 1 and task 2. tasks 1
varies for both GT and academic students but the task 2 is same
for both i.e. essay writing on given topic. For GT students , tasks
1 is whether note writing, diary writing or letter writing although
for academic students task 1 contains bar graphs, pie charts,
infrastructure or map. Tasks 1 is of 20 minutes and within the
limit students have to write about 150 words and task 2 is of 40
minutes, in this students have to write about 250 words on supplied
topic. Time limit is same for both GT and ACADEMIC

 READING
IN IELTS/PTE, READING MODULE IS ALSO OF 1HOUR .
READING MODULE CONTAINS THREE PASSAGES ,40
QUESTIONS IN TOTAL, APPROXLY 13-14 QUESTIONS IN A
PASSAGE THAT MEANS 20 MINUTES TO ONE PASSAGE,
APPROXIMATELY 1-1.15 MINUTE ON ONE QUESTION. IN

 LISTENING
LISTENING is of 45 minutes. It is divided into four sections
 Section one : In this section a conversation among a customer and a seller is
going on, or it can a form filling for different purposes. This section is easiest
among the others
 Section two : In this section one can notice a map, a guide is telling the
visitors about a place or a museum or parks, it can also be of any concrete to
be organized. This section is modest
 Section three : In this part a conversation between teacher and student or
two students discussing about a topic. This section is is academic section
and is tougher than first two
 Section four is also an academic one, in this a teacher is defining about a
topic related to plants ,gases, animals and so on, this part is more complex
than the rest one
 One should be very active while listing. Listing is the only module in which
students can score good band score
 SPEAKING
Speaking module is of 11-14 minutes. In speaking there
are three parts. The fist pat is introduction part in
which examiner asks about students personal life,
hobbies, likes, dislikes and is of 4-5 minutes . In pat two
an topic is given to the candidate on which one has to
speak for 2-3 minutes and examiner will ask some
question related to the cue card topic. The last part is
the discussion part, which is for 4-5 minutes , in this
the examiner can ask question related to real life issues
and routines
