Self – Awareness:
* the most important emotional competence...
“bringing to the conscious mind our understanding of the
compulsion that push us around”

why you do the things you do, in the way you do them”

Servanthood :
* the attitude of being “compassionate service” and act
of being “simplicity”
Key Areas for Self – Awareness

a. PERSONALITY
* is the unique pattern of characteristics that emerges from
the inherited (genes of parents) and acquired (environment)
to make each person an identifiable individual.

Human Persons – as a substance of spiritual and physical.


* Spirituality – man has a soul and is created by God with a
divine purpose.
* Physical – a person is created with body and faculty that
corresponds to the relationship with society.
Characteristic of a PERSON

1.) Rational – a person is free to think and has the


capacity to reason.
2.) Free – every person must be responsible for his own
actions.
3.) Unique – every person has his own identity.
4.) Social Being – every person is intrinsically a social
being.
5.) Sexual – the uniqueness of expression of a person’s
sexuality makes it all different.
Key Areas for Self – Awareness

b. VALUES
* as reference for our actions and behaviors.

Where VALUES come from:


* Our personal values are formed in early childhood and are
affected strongly by the values of our parents, the
environment, the school, the church, and the government.
Human Behavior – any act of an individual that reflects our
thoughts, feelings, emotions, and sentiments. It mirrors our
needs, values, motivations, aspirations, conflicts, and state of
life.

Human Values – gives worthiness and respect to life.

Values Education - it is the search for the human good.


It is the basis of an understanding of the human persons.

Objectives of Values Education:


1. Academic Formation – the intellect is trained to know the
truth.
2. Personal Formation – the human will is trained to choose
the good.
Key Areas for Self – Awareness

c. HABITS
* these are the behaviors that we repeat routinely and to possess
that helps us interact effectively with and manage others.

d. NEEDS
* our own behaviors is the ability to understand how they affect
our interpersonal relationship.

e. EMOTIONS
* understanding your own feelings – an impact to your thoughts
and actions are emotional self-awareness.
How does Self – Awareness make individual more
