Reading and Writing Workshop

What is reading workshop

Each reading unit represents about five to six weeks of teaching, structured into
three or four “bends in the road.” Rather than tackling the entire journey all at once,
it’s easier to embark on this series of shorter, focused bends, pausing between each
to regroup and prepare for the next. ( Lucy Calkins)

Reading Comprehension Instruction that Works

The nonprofit ReadWorks partners with K-12 teachers across the country to
solve our nation’s literacy crisis.

ReadWorks does this by bridging the gap between research and practice in
reading comprehension instruction. We leverage cognitive-science research to
create high-impact instructional materials and tools that are designed for
immediate use within the practical realities of current U.S. classrooms. As a
result, over 1 million teachers and 13 million students are using ReadWorks to
improve teaching and learning in their classrooms today.
