THE WORLD’S DEFINITION OF SUCCESS VS GOD
What is a biblical definition of success?
What does the Bible say about success?
The world defines success mainly by measuring the
amount of wealth, power, and popularity a person obtains
in this world.
Worldly definitions of success are deceptive and tragic
because they focus on what is fleeting and passing and
ignore what is lasting and eternal (Hebrews 11:25; James
4:14; Psalm 102:3; Job 7:7).
Worldly definitions of success are notoriously short-
sighted and, if followed, end in misery (Matthew 16:26; Luke 12:20; 16:25).
THE WORLD’S DEFINITION OF SUCCESS VS GOD
On the contrary, the Bible defines success in terms
of what is spiritual and lasting and ends in eternal life
and joy (Matthew 6:19–20; John 3:16; 15:11).
Whereas worldly success is centered on the
promotion and gratification of ourselves, biblical
success is centered on obedience to and glorification
of God (Romans 13:14; Galatians 5:16; 1 Corinthians
10:31).
ARE WE REALLY SUCCESSFUL NOW?

PRAYER
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in Americans, and having high blood cholesterol drastically increases your
risk. Elevated cholesterol levels cause blood clots to form and makes your arteries hard and stiff. When this occurs, your heart
has to work extra hard to pump blood through your veins, thus increasing blood pressure. After an extended period of time,
heart muscle tissues become damaged and you have a higher risk of having a heart attack. It is fine to have a pork chop or piece
of bacon every once in a while if you are generally healthy, but limit yourself to a few servings of pork per month.

Shabu Production in the Philippines
A primary problem is the use of hazardous chemicals in the production of the
drug. Some of the dangerous ingredients manufacturers use include:
1. “Jesus said to him, ‘“You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your
mind.” This is the first and great commandment.
2. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor
as yourself”’” (Matthew 22:35-39).
Here Jesus quoted Old Testament scriptures that
summarized the message of the 10 Commandments.
This confrontation presented Jesus Christ with the
perfect opportunity to clarify that His death would
shortly bring an end for the need of the
commandments altogether.
But He did not say any such thing, because it would
not have been true.
Putting these scriptures together leaves no doubt.
Christ kept the 10 Commandments, and He taught
others to do the same.
And that leaves people who have a bias against the law
in a difficult position. How do they reconcile Christ’s
teaching to abide by the law with the notion that Paul
taught that grace does away with the law?
• The theological reasoning to explain why Paul would teach
something different from what Christ taught is called
progressive revelation.
• Essentially, it means, as its wording implies, that through
later writings, God added to and progressively updated the
doctrines Jesus taught during His human ministry.
• Supposedly, this was done primarily through Paul, whose
letters comprise most of the New Testament.
The theory maintains that Christians need to follow
Paul’s updates rather than purely what Christ said and
did.
This flawed theory has caused many to mistakenly
assume the apostle Paul modified and changed
Christ’s teachings. Yet Paul was quite clear on this
subject.
Paul’s teaching on law and grace
Paul couldn’t have been plainer about seeing
himself as echoing the teachings and practices of
Christ.
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ,” he
told the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 11:1).
ITS SAYS YHVH IS THE ONLY GOD AND THERE IS NO OTHER GOD BEFORE
HIM ( EXODUS 20)
(Pro 2:7) He stores up sound wisdom for those who please him, he
is a shield for those who walk in integrity,
(Pro 2:8) he guards the paths of justice and he will preserve the way
of those who are faithful to him.
(Pro 2:9) Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and
equity, and every good path.
(Pro 2:10) For wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge
will be pleasant to your soul.
(Pro 2:11) Discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard
you.

have come not to destroy them, but to fulfill them.
Mat 5:18 For truly I say to you that until heaven and earth pass away, not one
jot or one tittle shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things have
been accomplished.
Mat 5:19 Therefore, whoever breaks the least one of these commandments
and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But
whoever keeps them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of
heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds the
righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter the
kingdom of heaven.

Why call ye me, Lord, and do not... say?"
Obedience springs from faith, a hearty acceptance of the will and ways of
God. Obedience brings its own confirmation of the truth.
"If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and
we will come unto him." "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the
doctrine whether it be of God."
"Hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his commandments."
Obedience is to extend to the smallest matters. "Observe
to do according to all." Joshua 1:8
YESHUA AND THE KINGDOM LAWS:
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAWS AND RULES/TRADITONS
Mat 5:20 For I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds the
righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter the
kingdom of heaven.
Mat 15:2 “Why do your disciples violate the traditions
of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.”
Yes, God’s purpose is that all human beings enjoy robust health. His
intention has always been that they enjoy a life of radiant, abundant
living. Yet this has never been the case for the majority of mankind. This
is because humanity is ignorant of what God says about healing. While
people have many opinions about healing, we must look to God and His
Word—the Bible—to see what HE says about this subject.

KEYS TO THE KINGDOM
Pursue success modelled on YESHUA
Matthew 9:14-38 YESHUA redefines success.
If you want to know what true success looks like, study
the model of Jesus – his vision, life and teaching.
It is the kind of success that is not universally recognised as such.
Jesus was both admired and hated.
Success does not necessarily mean popularity.
Some admired him: ‘There’s never been anything like this’ (v.33,
MSG).
Others hated him.
The Pharisees said, ‘It’s nothing but hocus-pocus. He’s probably
made a pact with the Devil’ (v.34, MSG).
Pursue success modelled on YESHUA
Matthew 9:14-38
YESHUA redefines success.
Jesus said, ‘The harvest is plentiful’ (v.37).
Jesus has modelled what success looks like – proclaiming
the kingdom and demonstrating its in-breaking into
history.
Now he calls you to follow his model – to share in his
mission, multiplying its reach.
Lord, there is so much need in our world yet it seems that the
workers are few. I pray that you would raise up and send out
more workers to go out into the harvest field and change the
(Ecclesiastes 12:12–14). The NRSV states it this way: “Fear God, and keep His
commandments; for that is the whole duty of everyone.”
Some professing Christians assume that it is impossible to keep God’s
commandments. They invent amazing interpretations to excuse their lack of
obedience to God the Father and Jesus Christ. Yet, as the Apostle Paul stated:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Christians who have the power of God—the Holy Spirit—within them can rely
on God’s power to live obedient and truly successful lives!
Scripture reveals the unseen and immutable laws of life. When we are in
harmony with those principles and instructions, we are successful. From the
beginning of the Bible to the end, we see that obedience to God’s way of life
brings blessings, and disobedience brings curses. Without God, the world’s
measures of success—possessions, power, position and pleasure—bring only
pain, suffering, failure and death. Those whose measure of success is self-
indulgence, self-promotion and self-centeredness ultimately harm themselves
and others.
God wants us to live happy, abundant lives. But many make the mistake of
setting happiness as an end or a goal in itself. As a result, they become
frustrated. Commentator Dennis Prager gave this principle: One “secret” to
happiness “is realizing that happiness is a byproduct of something else. The
most obvious sources are those pursuits that give our lives purpose—anything
from studying insects to playing baseball. The more passions we have, the
more happiness we’re likely to experience” (“A Simple Truth About
Happiness,” Reader’s Digest, June 1998, p. 99). Of course, the greatest
happiness comes as a byproduct of having the greatest purpose—seeking
God’s Kingdom.
True success comes only through the Savior of the world, who taught us to live
by every word of God. When we do that, through the power of the Holy
Spirit—God’s gift to those who repent and are baptized—we live truly happy
and successful lives, loving and serving others as we prepare ourselves for
entry into the Kingdom of God and the Family of God.
Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
+ Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
+ 1 Kings 2:3 And observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his
decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that
you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.
+ Jeremiah 17:7 But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
+ Deuteronomy 8:18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability
to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it
is today.
+ Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
+ Proverbs 3:1-4 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my
commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not
steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on
the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and
man.
+ James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
Through scripture we know that God wants us to succeed in life.
By growing and using our faith & trust in the Lord we can be
strengthened to fulfill His will for our lives- this is true success.
Use these collection of Bible verses to gain a better
understanding of how God defines success, and how we can
truly succeed in life.
Philippians 4:13
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Psalm 37:4
4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of
your heart.
Genesis 39:2-6
2 The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived
in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that
the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success
in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and
became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his
household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. 5
From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all
that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian
because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on
everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. 6 So

and because you have not asked for riches, wealth, or honor, nor for
the life of those who hate you, nor for long life for yourself,
but you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself,
so that you might rule my people, over whom I have made
you king, and this is what I will do.
