The Shema Israel vs Dispensationalism (heresy in the church)
 In the “Introduction to the New Testament,” we
are told, “The New Testament is the
presentation of life under grace as it differs
from life under law.”

 But the Old Testament also presents life

under grace, and both Old and New
Testaments present life under grace as life
under law, never as lawlessness. **
The Shema Israel vs Dispensationalism (heresy in the church)

The alternative to law is not grace; it is

lawlessness.
Grace and election move in terms of law
and under law;

reprobation is anti-law and anti-grace.

Is it the purpose of churchmen to make

the churches schools of reprobation????
The Shema Israel vs Dispensationalism (heresy in the church)

 The word blesses and it condemns in terms of

our response to it.
 To pray for grace is also to pray for judgment,
and it is to affirm the truth and the validity of
the law and the justice of the law.

 The whole doctrine of Christ’s atonement

upholds the unity of law, judgment, and
grace.
The Shema Israel vs Dispensationalism (heresy in the church)
 Some are afraid of the word obedience, as if it would
weaken love and the idea of a new creation. Scripture is
not.
 Obedience and keeping the commandments of one we
love is the proof of that love, and the delight of the new
creature.
Joh 14:13 Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that
the Father will be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If you ask me anything in my name, I
will do it.
Joh 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my
commandments.
The Shema Israel vs Dispensationalism (heresy in the church)
 You are not under the law in one way, but you are
in another;
 you are not for justification, but you are for a rule
of life.
• It declares, You are not under law, but under
grace;
• and if you are under law, you are condemned and
under a curse.
 How is that obligatory which a man is not under—
from which he is delivered?”
 (Ibid., p. 4).

THE WORLD’S DEFINITION OF SUCCESS VS GOD
What is a biblical definition of success?
What does the Bible say about success?
The world defines success mainly by measuring the
amount of wealth, power, and popularity a person obtains
in this world.
Worldly definitions of success are deceptive and tragic
because they focus on what is fleeting and passing and
ignore what is lasting and eternal (Hebrews 11:25; James
4:14; Psalm 102:3; Job 7:7).
Worldly definitions of success are notoriously short-
sighted and, if followed, end in misery (Matthew 16:26; Luke 12:20; 16:25).
THE WORLD’S DEFINITION OF SUCCESS VS GOD
On the contrary, the Bible defines success in terms
of what is spiritual and lasting and ends in eternal life
and joy (Matthew 6:19–20; John 3:16; 15:11).
Whereas worldly success is centered on the
promotion and gratification of ourselves, biblical
success is centered on obedience to and glorification
of God (Romans 13:14; Galatians 5:16; 1 Corinthians
10:31).
ARE WE REALLY SUCCESSFUL NOW?

PRINCIPLE OF LAW: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM

PROSPERITY DOES NOT COME BY PRAYER

The reward of obedience to the LAW OF LIFE.
Prov. 28:9 Whoever turns aside his ear from hearing
the Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.
Pro 28:9 Ang naglalayo ng kanyang pandinig sa
pakikinig ng kautusan, maging ang kanyang
panalangin ay karumaldumal.
Pro 28:9 Ang taong ayaw sumunod sa kautusan
Ang dalangin niya ay di pakikinggan.
A law- abiding citizen of the Kingdom of God will reap the blessings
of Obedience in Due time /Season – tamang kapanahonan
(Psalm 1:1) Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of
the wicked, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat
in the seat of scorners.(Psa 1:2) But his delight is only in the Torah of
YAHWEH, and he meditates in His Torah day and night.
(Psa 1:3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of
waters, which will give its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf will
not wither, and all which he does will prosper.
(Psa 1:4) Not so are the wicked, but they are only as chaff which the wind
drives about.(Psa 1:5) On account of this the wicked shall not stand in the
judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.(Psa 1:6) For
YAHWEH is knowing the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked shall
perish.
LIFE IS NOT HARD. OBEDIENCE IS HARD
God tells us that if we will always look to Him for our standards to
live by, we will experience blessings in this life and a hope for even
greater ones in the life to come.
Easier said…THAN DONE
So we must obey God and seek to do His will in order to succeed.
But there is a common saying that rings true in this case.
The saying is, “It is
easier said than done.”
We know we should be looking to our Creator for guidance;
we should look to Him for standards to live by.
He created us and His inspired words are our “user manual”
that we must live by. We know this, but we sometimes find
it difficult to live by.
PRINCIPLE OF LAW: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM

Jos 1:8 WHAT IS good success.

Bible verses about success
• We all desire success,
• but a believer desires a different type of success
than the world.
• Success for a Believer is the obedience to the known
will of God whether that means going through trials
or receiving a blessing.
• WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD? OBEY THE
LAWS of TORAH ( Matthew 7:23)
LAW BRINGS ORDER
Why are laws important?
 The key to life is ORDER.
 ORDER comes from LAW.
  when you obey laws , you bring order to your life
WHAT DOES LAW DO?
1. Laws protects, sustains,preserve ( regulates),
they guard
1. And they promote life.
If you obey laws they will protect you, sustain you ,
 they will guard you and they will promote you.
 Success is obedience to God, empowered by the Spirit of God,
 motivated by love for God, and
 directed toward the advancement of the kingdom of God.
 Success begins with obeying God's command to repent and
believe in Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15; Acts 19:4; 20:21).
 When a person receives Jesus Christ they also receive the Holy
Spirit (Ephesians 1:13–14; 4:30; Romans 8:9; 2 Timothy 1:14).
 The Spirit empowers and enables believers to obey the teachings
and commands of Christ (Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49; 1 Thessalonians
1:5).
 This obedience is motivated by our newly implanted love for God
(Romans 5:5; Galatians 4:6).
 LAWS has “INHERENT” BENEFITS AND JUDGMENT AS WELL.
laws cannot be substituted by per hmm

 prosperity doesn’t come by prayer

 if you obey my laws and keep them meditate on them
you will make your way prosperous
 prosperity don’t come by prayer
 it comes by keeping laws
 without law there’s no definition in life
laws define things
laws define things
you put a seed on a tiled floor and leave it there for 20 years the seed
will stay there and no tree will come forward
why because you violated the law of the seed
so the law defines the laws define what the seed must do
you must put it in soil
you must give it moisture it
did it must be light sunshine or somewhere otherwise the seed will
never bring for the tree so
you can pray over a seed for 20 years in the lobby on the tile floor
your prayer speaking in tongues
quoting scripture over that thing
casting demons out
will not bring that tree
oh let’s see
because laws cannot be substituted by PRAYER
• one of the greatest temptations the devil levied on Jesus Christ
with this temptation he took him to the highest pinnacle and said
jump
• that was a shortcut he said you won’t dash your foot against a
stone you will hurt yourself another way
• take a shortcut don’t go through all that stuff about the cross
and you know all the pain and the crucifixion and go into hell and
• right he said look let’s just get over you
• jump now they’ll believe you guess what that was the biggest
temptation you know I was the biggest one
• because jesus said after that why tempt the LORD thy God not
with the bread under and the power was okay but this one he said
• the longest way to success is the shortcut
• means you violate laws the Bible call this
trespassing
• you know if you cut across somebody’s yard
instead of going around the main road you call
it a shortcut don’t you but
• what are you doing trespassing and
• Christ says forgive us our trespasses
forgive us from trying to make life quick without
go to the process
forgive us for trying to get quick schemes
that’s why people get into problems with business
people offer them a kind of quick rich rich rich a get-
rich-quick stuff you know sell this or do this or do that
that’s why gambling is really demonic not because
you can gamble
but because gambling encourages shortcuts
 a personal gamblers I guarantee you they will always be poor
even if they win once they can be poor don’t violate law (drug dealers)
 the difference between natural law and super natural laws
1. one natural law is inherent in creation that
means it’s built into creation number
2. two natural law establishes natural order
number
3. three natural law regulates natural
relationship notice the word natural from the
word nature natural natural nature
yeah it’s built into nature
natural law cannot be changed
natural law is built in consequences
in other words natural law doesn’t need God to
punish
you when you violate it
for example gravity is a natural law if you jump
off a 10-story building God doesn’t need to kill you
why because the consequence of breaking the
law is build-in to the law
 spiritual law is built-in consequences the wages of sin is
death
 so when your forefather Adam sinned
 God didn’t put death on him
 death was built into the law
 let me quote God’s Word God says the day you eat this
fruit you will surely die
 he didn’t say that day you eat this food I will kill you
 the dying was in the act of eating the fruit
 in other words oh disobedience has its own built-in
consequences
 God never killed Adam does it
 look your relationship with me depends are you not
touching the tree
 but if you violate that tree that means the commandment
of God
 is not a tree it’s the fact that
 God taught not to touch it
 the law he says I don’t need to kill you you will die
law is the inherent principles that regulate nature of life and
relationships in God’s creation
I’ve given you a definition of law law defined is inherent principles that
means the built-in principles that regulate the nature of life and relationships
within creation
so laws create relationship very important
*** laws are both natural and supernatural
 both physical and spiritual to guarantee maximum
fulfilment of purpose and potential
in other words God created all the laws to work in
your favor
the problem in life is simple
you know we don’t know the laws
so we come to life experimenting guessing hoping
things were covered
first of all God created all things to live and function by
LAW
you said that but God created mankind to live by
natural and spiritual laws and
that’s why all humans must learn laws for relationships
to be built properly
the reason why people fail is because they don’t know
the laws
how you relate to life depends on the laws that you’re

supposed to obey law is the key to success and prosperity

 God don’t need to judge us
 so that’s how powerful laws are
 laws are so powerful they have their own inherent judgment
 you may think for example you’re getting away with some private
things God don’t know about
 God knows everything you see what you do even no one’s
watching and ( NEED FOR REPENTANCE)
 God has given you some opportunity to sort this thing up because
eventually it’s going to destroy you and
 if you have an affair with sin threading with sin privately it
secretly God don’t worry about you and
  God or even judge you it’s built into the act laws i inherent
God really doesn’t judge you
• the laws he established judges you
natural law has built-in
consequences
natural law has inherent
judgment again it tells it tells us that
it’s predictable
if you keep smoking cigarettes
we don’t need to wonder what
happens to your lungs
you keep drinking alcohol we can
predict what happens to your liver
your liver is given to you to purify the
blood in your body
• if your body is filled with alcohol in the
blood that
• you drink the liver takes it out of the
blood and keeps it the alcohol burns the
- the things the keeps you pure
cells in the liver because of acidity and it becomes your poison why
becomes fried it causes cirrhosis of the because the
liver now you end up liver was never
• with a fried liver that can purify your designed to extract alcohol
blood anymore and liver poisons you so you broke a law it’s
built in judgment
Pork bacon is very
high in cholesterol,
providing more than
80 milligrams for
three 1-ounce slices.
Center cut pork
chops have nearly 70
milligrams of
cholesterol per 100
grams, which is
about 3.5 ounces.

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in Americans, and having high blood cholesterol drastically increases your
risk. Elevated cholesterol levels cause blood clots to form and makes your arteries hard and stiff. When this occurs, your heart
has to work extra hard to pump blood through your veins, thus increasing blood pressure. After an extended period of time,
heart muscle tissues become damaged and you have a higher risk of having a heart attack. It is fine to have a pork chop or piece
of bacon every once in a while if you are generally healthy, but limit yourself to a few servings of pork per month.
 God has never killed a smoker
 God has never killed an alcoholic God
 has never killed a drug addict never
 God never makes you poor ---you mismanaged funds
buy things you can’t afford by things you don’t need
the law is a judgment built in it’s a law
spiritual law is very important I just gave you natural law
spiritual laws number one established by God created and this is
important
in other words natural law and spiritual law have nothing to do
with you they established by the Creator
you didn’t create gravity God’s wonderful design of the universe
created gravities
METH HARM SHORT-TERM EFFECTS
1. Loss of appetite
2. Increased heart rate, blood pressure, body
temperature
3. Dilation of pupils
4. Disturbed sleep patterns
5. Nausea
6. Bizarre, erratic, sometimes violent behavior
7. Hallucinations, hyperexcitability, irritability
8. Panic and psychosis
9. Convulsions, seizures and death from high doses
LONG-TERM EFFECTS of SHABU USE
1. Permanent damage to blood vessels of heart and brain, high blood
pressure leading to heart attacks, strokes and death
2. Liver, kidney and lung damage
3. Destruction of tissues in nose if sniffed
4. Respiratory (breathing) problems if smoked
5. Infectious diseases and abscesses if injected
6. Malnutrition, weight loss
7. Severe tooth decay
8. Disorientation, apathy, confused exhaustion
9. Strong psychological dependence
10.Psychosis
11.Depression
12.Damage to the brain similar to Alzheimer’s disease,3 stroke and epilepsy
Shabu Production in the Philippines
A primary problem is the use of hazardous chemicals in the production of the
drug. Some of the dangerous ingredients manufacturers use include:

Acetone (used in nail polish remover and paint thinner)

Lithium (a corrosive chemical used in batteries)
Toluene (used in brake fluid)
Hydrochloric acid (used to make plastic; also used to remove rust from steel)
Sodium hydroxide (burns the skin and causes blindness)
Sulfuric acid (used in toilet bowl cleaner; burns skin on contact)
Red phosphorus (ignites when overheated; found on matchboxes and in road
flares)
Anhydrous ammonia (found in lawn fertilizer and household cleaners)
1. spiritual law establishes your conscience
there is a law in your body called the conscience in your
mind
no one has to tell you when you’re doing wrong
there’s a law in your body tells you you know when you
eat too much
you know when you ate something that ain’t good for you
the person who’s smoking the cigarette knows the cigarette is
bad the conscience tells them this is bad but the habit controls
them your crunchings is a natural spiritual law
2. spiritual laws I inherit in the human spirit
all of us know sin even the guy who doesn’t know God knows
where he is breaking the law
there are laws built into our spirit being
3. spiritual laws regulate supernatural relationships for you to relate
to God you have the basal spiritual laws first submission you got to
submit to God
God can’t help you if you a submit
 number two you have to confess that you don’t know nothing
that’s a spiritual law
you come to God as if you know everything then why do you need
God
as a law a law of submission not just of your body but of your
mind and your intelligence
 However, the truth is that no human
being, except Jesus Christ, has perfectly
obeyed God’s laws.
 Going against God’s perfect and holy laws
creates a rift between us and our holy
Creator.
 His perfect righteousness can’t coexist
with the vile corruption of sin.
 The horrible stain of sin must be removed
if we are ever to have the close family
relationship that God so greatly desires.
While the law defines sin, clearly
showing us what actions are right
and wrong,
keeping the law—even keeping it
perfectly—cannot remove the
penalties for our previous sins and
reconcile us to God.
We are saved “for” good
works, not “by” good works
(Ephesians 2:10 ).
 God’s grace—His love (ahavah) and
mercy (chesed) and all of His generous
gifts/favor (chen)—makes
reconciliation possible.
 Grace does not remove the beneficial
laws but, through Christ’s sacrifice,
pays the penalty of sin. ***
 It is not a case of law vs. grace.
 God’s revelation is that law and grace
work together.
Reaping the Benefits of the Law
1. The law ( torah/Pentateuch) drives us to the gospel.
2. The gospel saves us from the curse of the law,  but in turn
directs us back to the law to search its spirit.
3. The law of God is still a lamp to our feet. Without it we stumble
and trip and grope in darkness.
4. For the Christian, the greatest benefit of the law of God is its
revelatory character.
5. The law reveals to us the Lawgiver.
6. It teaches us what is pleasing in His sight.
7. We need to seek the law of God—to pant after it—and to delight
in it.
8. Anything less is an offense against the Father, the Son, and the
Holy Spirit.
Ways Obedience Makes You More Successful

 God’s laws were instituted for our

protection and happiness. Rather than
seeing them as a set of “don’ts,” we
should view them as liberators from
distractions or habits that keep us from
reaching our potential.

 So how does obedience make us more

successful in our temporal as well as our
spiritual lives?
So why do so many today believe grace
abolishes God’s law or that they are at odds?
In this section, we carefully examine the teachings of the
Bible on law and grace to see what God really intended.
Law and Grace: Jesus vs. Paul?
Some people today believe that the
apostle Paul’s teaching on law and
grace changed what Christ taught.
Is it Jesus vs. Paul?
What does the Bible say?

One of the sections of Scripture that clearly reveals Jesus’
teaching on law and grace is the one in which an adulteress
was dragged before Him to see if He would pronounce the
penalty upon her demanded by the law—death by stoning
(John 8:1-11).
Silent at first, He only wrote something in the dust with His finger.
Pressed by the accusers to make a judgment, He told them, “He
who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her
first” (verse 7).
No one stepped forward. Instead, they slowly dissolved into the crowd within the temple.
When all the accusers had left without condemning the
woman, Jesus, the only One who truly was sinless, did not
condemn her either. “Go and sin no more,” He told her (John 8:11).
 Because of grace, God’s benevolent kindness, Jesus
pardoned the woman from death for something of
which she was certainly guilty.
 Expressed in today’s language, God’s grace was His not
giving the woman what she deserved for the way she
had behaved.
What did Jesus teach about law?
This, too, is revealed in the above account.
• He did not say to the woman that she was free
to carry on as before, as if she hadn’t been
pardoned.
• He wanted her to change her way of living—to
repent. Essentially, He said, “Now, go behave
yourself.”
The 10 Commandments
Was she to behave by the evolving norms of what society accepts
as tolerable behavior? Or was she to behave by what she felt was
an acceptable way to live? The answer is no to both of these
questions.
The word “sin” reveals the answer.
 Sin means an action or thought contrary to the law of
God (1 John 3:4; 2 Corinthians 10:4-6), not to some
human standard.
 Jesus told her to live from then on by the 10
Commandments.
 This teaching is confirmed by other examples in the
Gospel accounts.
When the Pharisees tried to trick Christ into saying
something against the law, He did not deny the law its
place. “Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a
question, testing Him, and saying, ‘Teacher, which is the
great commandment in the law?’

1. “Jesus said to him, ‘“You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your
mind.” This is the first and great commandment.
2. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor
as yourself”’” (Matthew 22:35-39).
 Here Jesus quoted Old Testament scriptures that
summarized the message of the 10 Commandments.
 This confrontation presented Jesus Christ with the
perfect opportunity to clarify that His death would
shortly bring an end for the need of the
commandments altogether.
 But He did not say any such thing, because it would
not have been true.
 Putting these scriptures together leaves no doubt.
Christ kept the 10 Commandments, and He taught
others to do the same.
 And that leaves people who have a bias against the law
in a difficult position. How do they reconcile Christ’s
teaching to abide by the law with the notion that Paul
taught that grace does away with the law?
• The theological reasoning to explain why Paul would teach
something different from what Christ taught is called
progressive revelation.
• Essentially, it means, as its wording implies, that through
later writings, God added to and progressively updated the
doctrines Jesus taught during His human ministry.
• Supposedly, this was done primarily through Paul, whose
letters comprise most of the New Testament.
 The theory maintains that Christians need to follow
Paul’s updates rather than purely what Christ said and
did.
 This flawed theory has caused many to mistakenly
assume the apostle Paul modified and changed
Christ’s teachings. Yet Paul was quite clear on this
subject.
Paul’s teaching on law and grace
Paul couldn’t have been plainer about seeing
himself as echoing the teachings and practices of
Christ.
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ,” he
told the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 11:1).

 This statement allows no conclusion other

than that Paul saw himself as
perpetuating, not contradicting, Christ’s
doctrines.
In even stronger language, Paul wrote to the Church in Galatia, “I
marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called
you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not
another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert
the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven,
preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to
you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say
again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you
have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:6-9).
 In verses 8-9 Paul pronounces a curse on
anyone who dared teach a message other
than what Christ taught! In repeating this
curse for emphasis, Paul sternly warned
against changes to Christ’s teaching.
 Since Paul used such strong language,
 we would expect his teaching on law and
grace to be the same as Christ’s, and this is
what the Bible reflects.
 Paul deeply appreciated God’s grace and
he respected God’s law.
A good example of Paul’s teaching is found in his letter to the
Romans where he writes:
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin
that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we
who died to sin live any longer in it?” (Romans 6:1-2).
 A few verses later Paul emphasizes this teaching once more,
saying, “For sin shall not have dominion over you,
for you are not under law but under grace. What
then? Shall we sin because we are not under law
but under grace? Certainly not!” (verses 14-15).
 Paul’s teaching on law and grace was clearly the same
as Christ’s.
 Paul appreciated God’s grace and respected His law.
Is the Law Void?
Since we are under grace, does this mean that we don’t
have to worry about the law? Paul answers the question
about the law by telling the church at Rome, “Are we to
continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means!
How can we who died to sin still live in it” (Rom 6:1-2)?
Further, he says “What then? Are we to sin because we
are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do
you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone
as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom
you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of
obedience, which leads to righteousness” (Rom 6:15-16)?
 Just because we are not under the law but under grace doesn’t
mean that we are free to break the law.
 The truth is that we should desire to obey God because we love
Him as Jesus said
“If you love me, you will keep my
commandments” (John 14:15).
 Love is equated with a desire to live an obedient life.
We should want to obey God because we love Him and we are
indebted to Him by His freeing us from the eternal death
penalty that we all deserved and that the law had brought.
 When Paul writes about the law, he is not referring to the
Mosaic Law which was nailed to the cross by Christ but
 he was referring to the Ten Commandments which have never
been voided.

LAWS AND PRINCIPLES
 When it comes to obedience to God’s instructions, why can we
not make a distinction between “principle” and “law”?
 A principle is defined as a general or fundamental truth; a
comprehensive or fundamental law, doctrine or assumption on
which others are based or from which others are derived; a
governing law of conduct.
 When it comes to obedience to instructions from God, we
cannot make a distinction between principles and laws.
 Every statement of God governing his people and every
judicial decision of God is a law to them.

LAW BRINGS ORDER
Why are laws important?
 IF we disobey natural law- we will be ones who will be
 Affected, ( gravity will pull you down no matter what)
 If a person jumps from the 10th floor of a building, God
 Doesn’t need to kill him/her, Gravity will.

 Natural laws regulates life.

Divine Laws Are for Our Benefit “How I do love your law!”—PSALM 119:97.
1. What is the prevalent attitude toward obedience to divine laws?
OBEYING divine laws is not popular today.
For many, deferring to an invisible higher authority seems pointless.
 We live in an era of moral relativism, of blurred boundaries between right and wrong,
and of huge gray areas. (Proverbs 17:15; Isaiah 5:20) Reflecting a way of thinking that is
common in many secularized societies, a recent poll noted that “most Americans want to
decide for themselves what is right, good and meaningful.”
 They opt for “no strong God. No strong rules. No strong superiors, moral or otherwise.”
A social analyst observed that today “individuals are expected to determine for
themselves what it means to lead a good and virtuous life.” He continued:
 “Any form of higher authority has to tailor its commandments to the needs of real
people.”

The Supreme Lawgiver
In what ways has Jehovah proved to be Lawgiver?
 “One there is that is lawgiver and judge,” the Bible tells
us. (James 4:12) Indeed, Jehovah is the only true
Lawgiver.
 Even the movements of the heavenly bodies are governed
by his “celestial laws.” (Job 38:33, The New Jerusalem Bible)
 Jehovah’s myriads of holy angels are likewise governed by
divine law, for they are organized into definite ranks and
serve under Jehovah’s command as his ministers.—Psalm
104:4; Hebrews 1:7, 14.
4
The Supreme Lawgiver
 Jehovah has given laws to mankind as well.
 Each of us has a conscience, a reflection of Jehovah’s sense of justice.
 A kind of internal law, the conscience can help us to distinguish right from
wrong. (Romans 2:14)
 Our first parents were blessed with a perfect conscience, so they needed but
a few laws. (Genesis 2:15-17)
 Imperfect man, however, needs more laws to guide him in the doing of
God’s will.
 Such patriarchs as Noah, Abraham, and Jacob received laws from Jehovah
God and transmitted these to their families. (Genesis 6:22; 9:3-
6; 18:19; 26:4, 5)
 Jehovah caused himself to become Lawgiver in an unprecedented way when
he gave the nation of Israel a Law code by means of Moses.
 This legal code offers us extensive insight into Jehovah’s sense of justice.
LAWGIVER
A maker of laws; a legislator. The Bible centers attention on Jehovah
as the fundamental Lawgiver of the universe.
 Jehovah as the Lawgiver.
 Jehovah is actually the one true Lawgiver in the universe.
 Attributable to him are the physical laws governing inanimate
creation (Job 38:4-38; Ps 104:5-19), and animal life. (Job 39:1-30)
 Man also, as a creation of Jehovah, is subject to Jehovah’s
physical laws, and
 since he is a moral, rational creature, capable of reasoning and of
spirituality, he is equally subject to God’s moral laws. (Ro 12:1;
1Co 2:14-16)
 Furthermore, Jehovah’s law governs spirit creatures, angels.—Ps 103:20;
2Pe 2:4, 11.
LAWGIVER

 Jehovah’s physical laws are unbreakable. (Jer 33:20, 21)

 Throughout the known visible universe his laws are
so stable and reliable that,
 in areas where scientists have knowledge of these
laws, they can calculate the movements of the
moon, planets, and other celestial bodies with split-
second accuracy.
 One who goes contrary to the physical laws
experiences immediate application of their
sanctions.
LAWGIVER

• Likewise, the moral laws of God are irrevocable and

cannot be circumvented or violated with impunity.
• They are as sure of enforcement as are His natural
laws, though the punishment may not be as
immediately enforced. ( GOD DID NOT KILL ADAM)
• “God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is
sowing, this he will also reap.”—Ga 6:7; 1Ti 5:24.
Before Jehovah gave his law to Israel, how could humans
determine God’s will for them?
The Law covenant. Even prior to the Exodus from Egypt, Jehovah had served
as the Statute-Giver to his people Israel. (Ex 12:1, 14-20; 13:10) But an
outstanding example of his role as Lawgiver to a nation was his institution of
the Law covenant. Here, for the first time, was a body of laws in code form
governing every facet of life. This covenant making Israel an exclusive people,
a nation belonging peculiarly to Him, distinguished Israel from all other
nations.—Ex 31:16, 17; De 4:8; Ps 78:5; 147:19, 20.

In a prophetic message forecasting salvation by Jehovah, the prophet Isaiah

stated: “Jehovah is our Judge, Jehovah is our Statute-giver [“lawgiver,” AS,
Dy, Le, Yg], Jehovah is our King; he himself will save us.” (Isa 33:22) Jehovah
therefore constituted the judicial, legislative, and executive power in Israel;
the three branches of government were combined in him. Isaiah’s prophecy
thus gave assurance of complete defense and direction for the nation, for it
highlighted the fact that Jehovah was in a full sense the Sovereign Ruler.

1. What is the prevalent attitude toward obedience to divine laws?
OBEYING divine laws is not popular today.
For many, deferring to an invisible higher authority seems pointless.
PRINCIPLE OF LAW: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM
 How is the first mention of law in the Bible closely related to
divine blessing and approval?
 divine standards are for our benefit. It is of interest to consider the account
where law is first mentioned in the Bible.
 At Genesis 26:5, we read God’s words:
 “Abraham . . . continued to keep his obligations to me, my commands, my
statutes, and my laws.”
 Those words were uttered centuries before Jehovah gave a detailed law
code to Abraham’s descendants.
 How did God reward Abraham’s obedience, including obedience to His
laws? Jehovah God promised him:
 “By means of your seed all nations of the earth will certainly bless
themselves.” (Genesis 22:18)
 Obedience to divine laws is thus closely linked to divine blessing and
approval.
The Mosaic Law—An Overview
5. Was the Mosaic Law an unwieldy, complex set of laws, and why
do you so answer?

5 Many seem to think that the Mosaic Law was an unwieldy,

complex set of laws. Such a notion is far from the truth. There are
over 600 laws in the entire code. That may sound like a lot, but just
think: By the end of the 20th century, the federal laws of the United
States filled over 150,000 pages of legal books. Every two years
some 600 more laws are added! So in terms of sheer volume, the
mountain of human laws dwarfs the Mosaic Law. Yet, God’s Law
governed the Israelites in areas of life that modern laws do not even
begin to touch. Consider an overview.
The Mosaic Law—An Overview
6, 7. (a) What differentiates the Mosaic Law from any other law
code, and what is that Law’s greatest commandment? (b) How
could the Israelites show their acceptance of Jehovah’s sovereignty?

6 The Law exalted Jehovah’s sovereignty. Thus, the Mosaic Law is

beyond comparison with any other law code. The greatest of its
laws was this: “Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.
And you must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your
soul and all your vital force.” How were God’s people to express love
for him? They were to serve him, submitting to his sovereignty.—
Deuteronomy 6:4, 5; 11:13.
The Law Promoted Love
22. In what ways did the Mosaic Law encourage love, and toward whom?
22 Can you imagine a modern-day legal system that encourages love? The
Mosaic Law promoted love above all else. Why, in the book of Deuteronomy
alone, the word for “love” occurs in various forms over 20 times. “You must
love your fellow as yourself” was the second-greatest commandment in all the
Law. (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:37-40) God’s people were to show such love
not only to one another but also to the alien residents in their midst,
remembering that the Israelites too had once been alien residents. They were
to show love to the poor and afflicted, helping them out materially and
refraining from taking advantage of their weaknesses. They were even
directed to treat beasts of burden with kindness and consideration.—Exodus
23:6; Leviticus 19:14, 33, 34; Deuteronomy 22:4, 10; 24:17, 18.
23. What was the writer of Psalm 119 moved to do, and what might
we resolve to do?
23 What other nation has been blessed with such a legal code? No
wonder the psalmist wrote: “How I do love your law!” His love,
however, was not merely a feeling. It moved him to action, for he
strove to obey that law and to live by it. Further, he continued: “All
day long [your law] is my concern.” (Psalm 119:11, 97) Yes, he
regularly spent time studying Jehovah’s laws. There can be no doubt
that as he did, his love for them increased. At the same time, his love
for the Lawgiver, Jehovah God, grew as well. As you continue to
study divine law, may you too grow ever closer to Jehovah, the
Great Lawgiver and God of justice.

KINGDOM LAWS: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM

God wants us to be successful

Our Creator does not want us to fail or to feel
like a failure. He created us with a definite
purpose in mind.
God designed you for success. He made you to be a winner. This is true for
every person, regardless of what has happened in the past. God has never
destined anybody to live a mediocre life.
Jeremiah 29:11 says,
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of
peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
PRINCIPLE OF LAW: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM

“To lose something in the will of God is to find something better.”

Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success
Success doesn’t always appear how we think it should be. Success
can be a trial that leads to a blessing.
Job 2:9-10 His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your
integrity? Curse God and die!” He replied, “You are talking like a
foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
PRINCIPLE OF LAW: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM
Does God provide financial success?
• Yes and there is nothing wrong with blessings. I pray for
this blessing.
• But God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others, not
so we can be greedy.
• If God blesses you financially glory to God.
• If He blesses you with trials, which helps you bear fruit,
grow, and know God more, then glory to God.
Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he
who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant
that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

God’s Principles of Healthful Living
God’s Principles of Healthful Living
 There is a cause for every effect.
 When God’s physical laws are broken,
sickness and disease result.
 But if you diligently keep them, you will
be healthy, happy and “brimming with
life.”
 God’s physical creation is governed
by definite, physical laws.
These include laws that regulate our bodies.
To be healthy, you must follow them.
But when they are broken, sickness results.
God’s Principles of Healthful Living
When a person breaks these principles and
laws of health
—whether through omission or
negligence—the body suffers.
 Among the negative results are
malnutrition, atrophy from
inactivity,
 or exhaustion from lack of rest—
simple cause and effect.
God’s Principles of Healthful Living
Though not stated in detail in the Ten
Commandments or other statutes and
precepts,
 the physical laws of health are
living laws
 —they are real—and the Bible
addresses many of them in
principle.
 Breaking them is physical
transgression—physical sin.
God’s Principles of Healthful Living
The Truth About Healing
Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). This verse is hardly compatible
with spending a lifetime suffering every possible illness and malady
known to man. And then there is the apostle John’s statement, written
under the inspiration of God: “I wish above all things that you may
prosper and be in health” (III John 2).

Yes, God’s purpose is that all human beings enjoy robust health. His
intention has always been that they enjoy a life of radiant, abundant
living. Yet this has never been the case for the majority of mankind. This
is because humanity is ignorant of what God says about healing. While
people have many opinions about healing, we must look to God and His
Word—the Bible—to see what HE says about this subject.

Pursue success modelled on YESHUA
Matthew 9:14-38 YESHUA redefines success.
If you want to know what true success looks like, study
the model of Jesus – his vision, life and teaching.
It is the kind of success that is not universally recognised as such.
Jesus was both admired and hated.
 Success does not necessarily mean popularity.
 Some admired him: ‘There’s never been anything like this’ (v.33,
MSG).
 Others hated him.
 The Pharisees said, ‘It’s nothing but hocus-pocus. He’s probably
made a pact with the Devil’ (v.34, MSG).
Pursue success modelled on YESHUA
Matthew 9:14-38
YESHUA redefines success.
Jesus said, ‘The harvest is plentiful’ (v.37).
 Jesus has modelled what success looks like – proclaiming
the kingdom and demonstrating its in-breaking into
history.
 Now he calls you to follow his model – to share in his
mission, multiplying its reach.
Lord, there is so much need in our world yet it seems that the
workers are few. I pray that you would raise up and send out
more workers to go out into the harvest field and change the
(Ecclesiastes 12:12–14). The NRSV states it this way: “Fear God, and keep His
commandments; for that is the whole duty of everyone.”
Some professing Christians assume that it is impossible to keep God’s
commandments. They invent amazing interpretations to excuse their lack of
obedience to God the Father and Jesus Christ. Yet, as the Apostle Paul stated:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Christians who have the power of God—the Holy Spirit—within them can rely
on God’s power to live obedient and truly successful lives!
Scripture reveals the unseen and immutable laws of life. When we are in
harmony with those principles and instructions, we are successful. From the
beginning of the Bible to the end, we see that obedience to God’s way of life
brings blessings, and disobedience brings curses. Without God, the world’s
measures of success—possessions, power, position and pleasure—bring only
pain, suffering, failure and death. Those whose measure of success is self-
indulgence, self-promotion and self-centeredness ultimately harm themselves
and others.
God wants us to live happy, abundant lives. But many make the mistake of
setting happiness as an end or a goal in itself. As a result, they become
frustrated. Commentator Dennis Prager gave this principle: One “secret” to
happiness “is realizing that happiness is a byproduct of something else. The
most obvious sources are those pursuits that give our lives purpose—anything
from studying insects to playing baseball. The more passions we have, the
more happiness we’re likely to experience” (“A Simple Truth About
Happiness,” Reader’s Digest, June 1998, p. 99). Of course, the greatest
happiness comes as a byproduct of having the greatest purpose—seeking
God’s Kingdom.
True success comes only through the Savior of the world, who taught us to live
by every word of God. When we do that, through the power of the Holy
Spirit—God’s gift to those who repent and are baptized—we live truly happy
and successful lives, loving and serving others as we prepare ourselves for
entry into the Kingdom of God and the Family of God.

your heart.
Genesis 39:2-6
2 The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived
in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that
the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success
in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and
became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his
household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. 5
From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all
that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian
because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on
everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. 6 So

2Chro.1:11 God said to Solomon, “Because this was in your heart,
and because you have not asked for riches, wealth, or honor, nor for
the life of those who hate you, nor for long life for yourself,
but you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself,
so that you might rule my people, over whom I have made
you king, and this is what I will do.

Why then the Law?
Further thoughts on Parashat Ki Teitzei
by John J. Parsons
www.hebrew4christians.com
Since parashat Ki Teitzei contains more legal commandments than
any other Torah portion, it is natural that we should revisit the
question of whether we are obligated to follow the law code of
Moses or not... In light of the salvation given in Yeshua, what is our
relationship to the law?
 Ki Teitzei, is notable because it contains the most
commandments of all the other weekly Torah readings:
 74 according to the count of Maimonides (over 12% of the
613 commandments).
The sages colorfully explain that the positive
commandments equal the number of bones of the body
(most of which are in the hands and feet), whereas the
negative commandments
correspond to the number of days in the solar year.
 This explanation was meant to teach that we should
obey God with every bone and organ of our bodies, every
day of the year.
 In Jewish tradition, the entire set of 613
commandments is sometimes called taryag mitzvot (the
word "taryag" functions as a numerical acronym for
"613").
These various commandments cover a
wide assortment of rules related to ethical warfare, family life,
burial of the deceased, property laws, fair labor practices, proper
economic transactions, and so on.
Even rules about a mother bird and her young are included (Deut.
22:6-7). Your Heavenly Father knows when the sparrow falls (Matt. 10:29).
 In every aspect of human life - religious, moral, social, civil,
environmental, agricultural, dietary, sexual, and so on - the Torah
has its voice.
For example, Rabbi Pinchas ben Hama said, "Wherever you go and
whatever you do, pious deeds will accompany you. When you build
a new house, 'make a parapet for your roof' (Deut. 22:8). When you
make a door, 'write the commandments upon your doorposts'
(Deut. 6:9).
 In every aspect of human life - religious, moral, social,
civil, environmental, agricultural, dietary, sexual, and
so on - the Torah has its voice.
When you plow your field, 'do not plow with an ox and an ass
together' (Deut. 22:10). When you reap your harvest, and have
forgotten a sheaf, do not pick it up. Leave it for the stranger, the
fatherless, and the widow (Deut. 24:19). And even if you are not
engaged in any particular kind of work but are merely journeying on
the road, the precepts accompany you. If a bird's nest is before you
on the road, 'do not take the mother with her young' (Deut. 22:6- 7)."
 We might add, whenever you eat or drink something
we are to recall how God’s Presence sustains us (1 Cor.
10:31).
The pervasive scope of God's commandments indicates
that there is no "dividing line“ between the sacred and
the profane in the life of the tzaddik (saint).
The world is not compartmentalized into the realms of the
spiritual and the material. No, "the whole earth is filled with the
glory of God," and it is only because of spiritual blindness that we do not
discern this truth.
 Simply put, all the various commandments found in the Scriptures
were given because the spiritual realm is intended to permeate
every aspect of our lives (1 Cor. 10:31).
Just as reciting 100 blessings a day helps us be mindful of the source of our
blessings, so studying the Torah's commandments helps us to "wake
up" to divine Presence regarding every practical decision we make.
Indeed, the "New Covenant" itself promises that Torah would be
written "upon our hearts" (Jer. 31:31-33, cp. Matt. 26:28)
and is inscrutable apart from it – just as Yeshua himself clearly
taught (Luke 24:27; see also: Matt. 5:17, Rom. 15:4, 1 Cor. 10:11, 2 Tim.
3:14-17, etc.).
The Torah is the foundation of the ministry of the Messiah...
Now while all that is undoubtedly true, it is vital to remember that Yeshua came
to die for our sins and to set us free from the Torah's judgment against us (Gal.
3:13). He came to offer a New Covenant ( ) ‫ ְּב ִרית חֲ ָד ָשה‬with God that is based on
His merit and righteousness.
 In other words, it is important to make the distinction between the general
ָ with the more specific idea of covenant ( ,) ‫ ְּב ִרית‬since these
idea of Torah ( (‫ּתֹורה‬
are different (though related) ideas. The Hebrew word "Torah" is a general word
that means "instruction" or "teaching,"whereas the word "covenant" refers to a
specific agreement made between God and man.
