and Self-Actualization

John Iverson N, De Castro, Charlie To, Ralph Russell Dela Fuente

INTRODUCTION
OBJECTIVE- Is aiming to intersect Self-Actualization, Spirituality, to
Human Potential to Psychedelic And Nootropic use

Where Spirituality Take Place?

According to Toward a Psychology of Being (Maslow, 1998)

Self-Actualization also means Self Transcendence, that makes this term very spiritual

And According to Spirituality (According to Eckhart Tolle in his book the Power of Now)

Spirituality Breaks

 The “SELF” , it means you do not need anything (it makes us Ego Less)
 You stop living just to survive and meet your physical and material needs

Because spirituality is beyond body and mind

We Become: Authentic According to Toward a Psychology of Being (Maslow, 1998)

Where Psychedelics And Nootropic Drug Take Place?

 Psychedelics Contain Spirituality when you intake it

- A psychedelic often comes up with a “loss-of-self” also referred to as “ego-death” (Seelig, 2017).
 According to Story of Steve Jobs, (Steve Jobs, Walter Isaacson 2011)
Steve Jobs Dive in to Spirituality And took LSD, according to Steve Jobs Taking LSD opens a door and take you to a
different dimension of life that you will see the other side of life he also said, it reinforced his sense of what is more
important, creating great things instead of just making money.

Nootropic drugs
- Are brain enhancer drugs that can boost your cognitive ability and memory (Froestl, Muhs & Pfeifer, 2012).
Where Human Potential Take Place?

- It is in the middle
- According 3 Biographies By Walter Isaacson (Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, & Leonardo Da
Vinci )
- If you are selfless you express free flowing manifesting the nature in our inside that is
spiritual and opening up our self to what is authentic to us, our intuition will guide us to our
activities to go where we are heading,
- They unleashed their full potential
 they are grounded in their spiritual aspects (in their Inner self)
 they are not self-driven, the intrinsic motivation is taken place
 their intuition is there because they give importance to solitude
 they envision things not based on egoic needs
THEMATIC TITLES
1. The Significance of 3 Biographies of Walter Isaacson to intersect Self-Actualization,
Spirituality, Human Potential using Psychedelic Drug (Walter Isaacson, 2008) (Walter Isaacson,
2011) (Walter Isaacson, 2017)

Methodology

Research Design: Qualitative Research Design –

phenomenology

Sampling Technique: Purposive Sampling and Archival

Instrument: Self-made interview questionnaire

Ethical consideration: Psychological Association of the

Philippines (2008)
Procedures in Gathering Data

1. The researchers will seek to acquire approval from the Dean of the College
of Liberal Arts and communication.

2. After acquiring approval, we will find and contact one possible respondent
and will then use snowball-sampling technique in order to find more
respondents.

3. Interview will commence and information will be gathered through audio

recordings, taking notes, and observation.

4. All the acquired data from the interviews will be transcribed and
interpreted.

5. Last but not the least; the researchers will go back with the respondents
for the validation of the data.
Data Analysis

1. The researchers will use a Thematic Analysis in analyzing the

data. The researchers will familiarize themselves with the
gathered data and will reflect on what they will observe and
gather.
2. In order for the researchers to not miss any important
information, they will also listen to the voice recordings as
many times as possible.
3. After finishing gathering the data, the researchers will form
labels and themes that will categorize the respondent’s answers.
4. They will analyze the experiences and reasons behind the
Filipino citizen’s use of nootropic drugs from the themes that
will be observed in Filipino citizen drug users.
5. A summary table of the intended theme will be produced.
