EMBRACING BASILISA
By: TPL/The Fibers
So many things and places to discover with limited
time, so stressful… then, why not discover those
only within our reach just in a little while?
May I bring you to the place we called
Basilisa. It may not have rich history, but has
splendid places worthy to be discovered just a
hundred hikes and a hundred paddles!
Basilisa is one of the municipalities of the
province of Dinagat Islands. It is located along
the western border of the province populated
by people who migrated from various places of
our country. That made the people in the
municipality have variety of dialects such as
Cebuano and even the Waray waray of the very
near neighbor province Leyte.
Basilisa is one progressive towns of the province
developing its promising beautiful spots to visit and
explore.
One famous attraction before setting foot to one
of the islands of the town is the breathtaking majestic
Lalaking Bukid- a mountain with a physique of a giant
man lying for a rest which is known in a local myth
“Prinsipe Gat”. You will not only be mesmerized with it
looks but when you docked on one of its shores such the
famous Bitaog Beach you will surely say “WOW! This is the
place I want to stay!”
As you turn southward going to another island where
Barangay Melgar is situated, another mythical but a real wishful
lake is found in the heart part of the barangay. You only have to
hike following the trail and after tracking the virgin forest on the
top most… your eyes will be wildering on what you can see. It is
the bluish still water of Bababu Lake, named after a local
description “Baba ng Buaya” or “Mouth of a Crocodile” because
the lake is just like a big mouth of crocodile so wide and ready to
devour his prey. Actor and TV Host Richard Guitierez of GMA
and company had explored the area, allured on its spectacular
beauty. If GMA TV expend to be there, how much more we?
At the back of that island, an array of somewhat like
cemented and compacted rock formation will make our eyes go
steady to stare the wonder of nature. And that scenery is more
beautiful with the clear somewhat green waters drifting towards
the rocks. The sea looks like green due to the preserved green
plants and corals underwater. It is accessible in a motor boat ride
until such going forward, you will be reaching enchanting islets
like lonely abodes waiting for someone to stay.
Aside from Bitaog Beach, the other islands of Basilisa
has many white beaches to offer not for a family or barkada get
way. Isla Aga and Sandayo Beaches are not only good for
swimming activities but also for big occasions like seminars and
conferences. It has small and big cottages which are affordable to
all. In addition, it has also conference halls and other amenities
for a complete relaxation and freeing oneself.
 It’s really a big break being in Basilisa shores, having
fresh foods both coming from land and seas. The
municipality has its own crop production like palay, camote
and cassava. There are also fresh picked vegetables like
ampalaya from Brgy Pantinople and tree-ripen fruits such
as Marang of Brgy. Ritaglenda comparable to durian of
Davao. Much more on variety of marine products. You will
be enjoying the mouth-watering tiger lobster from Brgy.
Puerto Prinsesa. Tuna fishes are also catchable in the
seawaters of Rizal.
 If you are looking for fun, food, escapades, hen come
to Basilisa and your money is valued with your enjoyment
and satisfaction.

I think you can find everything you want in Basilisa.

People are so warm, God-fearing and hospitable. They are
spirited by the Bayanihan system which is one of the good
virtues and culture the Filipinos are proud of. The whole
municipality is relatively peaceful and fresh living for, I could ask
no more.
If you are looking for fun, foods, and escapade, then
come to Basilisa and your money is valued with your enjoyment
and satisfaction.
Why go to other far places where our very own place
has many things to offer to our enjoyment?
Embrace our own place, discover Basilisa!!!
