Agribusiness is not only profitable, it is also beneficial to the environment.


Those who want to engage in this should know the traits they should develop if
they want to be successful entrepreneurs.
 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS
1. What are the personal entrepreneurial competencies of successful
agriculturists?
2. Why do they need to develop the desirable traits of successful entrepreneurs?
3. How do they develop the traits of successful entrepreneurs?
• Agribusiness is the business of agricultural production that includes crop
production. To be successful in Agribusiness, there are several entrepreneurial
traits that they should develop.
Here are some entrepreneurial traits that they should develop if they want to
engage in Agribusiness:
1. Opportunity-seeker.
With the basic knowledge and skills that they have, they are not afraid to explore
and develop new varieties of crops. They make use of the available seeds found
in the community and turn them to profits.
2. Creative and Innovative.
They must be imaginative and continuously explore new and modern farming
techniques. They do things differently.
3. Efficient and Responsible. Strive to come up with quality crops. They
are responsible for creating and maintain a profitable market for their
products. They apply the fundamental practices in crop production to
produce better and more vegetables.
4. Technical knowledge.
Expanding your knowledge through trainings is a must. The entrepreneurs
should have the desire to learn new trends and technologies in farming to
produce adequate crops for the consumers.
5. Healthy and Enthusiastic.
They should always be in good health and optimistic all times so that they can
work better in the farm
6. Persistent and Determined.
They continuously work to attain their goals despite some obstacles. They must
know how to use other alternatives to solve the problems and to improve the
crops.
7. Patient.
The farmer should work well and face problems brought about by typhoons, pest
and diseases of plants, lack of seeds, etc.
8. Systematic.
The good entrepreneur keep records accurately and orderly.
9. Information-seekers.
They must be updated with new trends by reading books, attending seminars, and
continuing to study the latest techniques in farming.
10. Sociable.
They must be emotionally stable, friendly, and considerate with their workers.
These are the factors that make for good business relationships.
11. Hardworking and Industrious.
They must have the guts to work hard and start a business. They devise ways to do
their work accurately to produce better and quality crops.
12. Risk-takers.
They take risks with strong sense of self-confidence and go into ventures where
they take advantage of the situation. If they fail, they take it as a lesson to learn
and continue to start again. They believe that in any undertaking, there is always a
chance of winning or failing.
13. Resourceful.
They are open to new technologies in farming to make the work easier.

2. Read books and journals about the latest trends in agriculture,
especially in growing vegetables.
3. Research on the use of different seeds adaptable to your locality.
