Definition:
A profit center is an organizational unit in accounting that reflects a management-oriented structure of
the organization for the purpose of internal control.
It represents a region, function or product where costs and revenues are collected. All objects with profit
related data should be assigned to a profit center including cost centers, sales order line items, assets,
etc. The profit center must be assigned to a hierarchy for roll up analysis.
