A COMMUNICATION PLAN

CONCERNING HIV/AIDS
OBJECTIVES

• This ComPlan was made to boost people’s


awareness and fight the increasing numbers of
HIV/AIDS cases in Manila.
OBJECTIVES

• According to the Department of Health, 30 percent of the


cases (328) last August, were diagnosed from the NCR.
This was followed by Calabarzon (173 cases), Central
Luzon (119 cases), Central Visayas (108 cases), and
Western Visayas (58 cases).
GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION

• As stated in the Republic Act No. 8504


• AN ACT PROMULGATING POLICIES AND
PRESCRIBING MEASURES FOR THE PREVENTION
AND CONTROL OF HIV/AIDS IN THE PHILIPPINES,
INSTITUTING A NATIONWIDE HIV/AIDS
INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM,
ESTABLISHING A COMPREHENSIVE HIV/AIDS
MONITORING SYSTEM, STRENGTHENING THE
PHILIPPINE NATIONAL AIDS COUNCIL, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES -- the Philippine Government had
already passed a law with regards to HIV/AIDS.
GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION

• In addition, here is another bill that was approved by the


government concerning the same disease;
The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive
Health Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10354), informally
known as the Reproductive Health Law or RH Law, is
a law in the Philippines, which guarantees universal access
to methods on contraception, fertility control, sexual
education, and maternal care.
AUDIENCE

• The ComPlan targets the following segments as primary


audience, namely: men having sex with men (MSM),
freelance sex workers (FSW), registered sex workers
(RSW), people who inject drugs (PWID) and their clients.
For prevention, this will also reach out to students, the
young people aged 13–29, since it was accounted for 39
percent of all new HIV infections in 2009, teachers,
employers, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and tourists
i. Anyone can contract this disease, which is why it is
important for everybody to be aware on how to prevent
the transmission of HIV.
MESSAGING

• Here are the planned activities for few


months of implementation: production and
dissemination of multi-media materials;
conduct of assemblies, seminars; and
campaign.
MESSAGING

• With the increasing number of HIV/AIDS


cases not only in Manila, but also in the
Philippines, education and awareness are the
key components to HIV/AIDS prevention.
