Metrobank Foundation
Campaign Collaterals
Creative Brief
Overview
Established on January 8, 1979 by George S. K. Ty, sixteen (16) years after he founded
the Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank), the Metrobank Foundation is
engaged in social development projects in the Philippines and other parts of Asia.

As the corporate social responsibility arm of the Metrobank Group, the Foundation
implements various programs in education, visual arts and healthcare. It also maintains
an active and dynamic partnership with other organizations that likewise provide
services for the disadvantaged. Among the Foundation’s flagship programs are the
Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE), Search for Outstanding
Teachers (SOT), College Scholarship Program (CSP), Metrobank-MTAP-
DepEd Math Challenge (MMC), The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS),
and Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS), and the recently
launched Search for Journalists of the Year (JOY).

It also supports programs aimed at educating the citizenry on public-interest issues

through research and lectures given by the distinguished holders of the Metrobank
Foundation Professorial Lecture established by the Foundation in partnership with
reputable educational institutions. The Foundation is also the principal owner of the
Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH), one of the leading centers of wellness in the country.
Background

The Metrobank Foundation Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT)

continues to be one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies for the
country’s educators. Since the awarding of the 1st batch in 1985, outstanding
teachers from elementary, secondary, and higher education levels have
already been recognized. In fact, it has earned an unquestioned respect,
recognition, and credibility that have become an institution to model after.

The Search is being supported by the Department of Education (DepEd) and

the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). With the advocacy of honoring
excellence in the education sector, the Search has been awarded the Grand Anvil,
the highest recognition during the 45th Anvil Awards given by the Public Relations
Society of the Philippines (PRSP) in 2009.

Over the years, the Search has become a sought-after award among educators as it
earned the prestige of becoming a benchmark of excellence in the teaching
profession awarding over 300 educators to date.
Background

The search for the Country’s Outstanding Police

Officers in Service (COPS) is an annual program
undertaken by the Metrobank Foundation, Rotary
Club of New Manila East and PSBank, in cooperation
with the Philippine National Police. With the aim to
recognize the shared responsibility between the police and
the community, the recognition is given to gallant men and
women of the police force who are able to work with the
community in preventing and solving crime.

The Search has produced awardees from the PNP

for both commissioned and non-commission officers
who are not just exemplary in their sworn duties but
are also agents of community involvement in crime
solution and crime prevention.
Background

The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers is an annual Search jointly

undertaken by the Rotary Club of Makati Metro and the
Metrobank Foundation, Inc. The Search is the realization of the shared
conviction of the Rotary Club of Makati Metro and the Metrobank
Foundation to honor excellence among the men and women in the
military as an expression of the civilian sector’s appreciation and
gratitude for our soldiers’ selfless acts of gallantry in preserving our
nation’s sovereignty.

Two Enlisted Personnel and one Commissioned Officer from each

of the three military branches, namely the Philippine Army, the
Philippine Navy and the Philippine Air Force, are selected as winners.
Every year, a winner is also selected from the Technical Support Group
of the military, i.e. the medical corps, the corps of professors and the Judge
Advocate Group Office.
