TRUE OR FALSE

ARE YOU
A HUMAN?
ARE YOU A
PERSON?
IS God
TRUE?
IS god
TRUE?
WHAT IS
THE
TRUTH?
TRUTH
a concept in philosophy that
treats both the meaning of
the word true and the
criteria by which we judge
the truth or falsity in spoken
and written statements.
CORRESPONDENCE
THEORY OF TRUTH
A theory based on intuitive
recognition that true
statements correspond to
the facts—that is, agree
with reality—while false
statements do not.
PRAGMATIC THEORY OF
TRUTH
Truth is that which experts will
agree upon when their
investigations are final. Many
pragmatists such as Peirce
claim that the truth of our
ideas must be tested through
practice.
COHERENCE THEORY OF
TRUTH
A set of beliefs is true if the
beliefs are
comprehensive—that is,
they cover everything—and
do not contradict each
other.
DEFLATIONARY THEORY
OF TRUTH
Contexts in which a sentence such as “it
is true that the book is blue” can have a
different impact than the shorter
statement “the book is blue.” More
importantly, use of the word true is
essential when making a general claim
about everything, nothing, or something,
as in the statement “most of what he
says is true.”
Constructivist theory of
truth
truth is constructed by social processes, is
historically and culturally specific, and that it is in part
shaped through the power struggles within a
community. Constructivism views all of our
knowledge as "constructed," because it does not
reflect any external "transcendent" realities (as a
pure correspondence theory might hold). Rather,
perceptions of truth are viewed as contingent on
convention, human perception, and social
experience. It is believed by constructivists that
representations of physical and biological reality,
including race, sexuality, and gender, are socially
constructed.
CONSENSUS THEORY OF
TRUTH
Consensus theory holds that truth is whatever is agreed
upon, or in some versions, might come to be agreed
upon, by some specified group. Such a group might
include all human beings, or a subset thereof consisting of
more than one person.
Among the current advocates of consensus theory as a
useful accounting of the concept of "truth" is the
philosopher Jürgen Habermas.Habermas maintains that
truth is what would be agreed upon in an ideal speech
situation. Among the current strong critics of consensus
theory is the philosopher Nicholas Rescher.
In the Islamic tradition, this principle is exemplified by
the hadith in which Muhammad states,
"My community will never agree upon an error“.
OBJECTIVE DOMAIN
Refers to the abstracted
theoretical knowledge one
can attain about the world.
Scientific truths are
covered by the objective
domain.
SOCIAL DOMAIN
This is a product of a general
agreement or consensus in a
certain society that has been
established over time. This is
generally what we refer to as
cultural ‘norms’ and they vary
between different groups of
people.
PERSONAL DOMAIN
 Truths are tested against the
consistency and authenticity of the
person who claims it. This is considered
as a precarious or unjustified domain of
truth because no one can have access
to our minds except ourselves. It is also
the one most often used by religions as
‘proof’ of the veracity of their ‘truths’.
