Introduction

Health monitoring and management

using IOT (internet of things)
Introduction

Health monitoring
 Different types of sensor are used to monitor health.

 Sensor monitor different physical activity like blood

pressure, temperature, pulse rate etc.

 These sensors are helpful in initial checkup of patients

Introduction

Health management
 Data can be recorded remotely

 Recorded data are used for making decision

 Recorded data bring evolution in practice of

medicine
Objectives

 To improve remote health care system.

 Due to use of IOT, patients history is stored in

electronic form.

 Helpful in increasing accuracy and effectiveness of

treatment.
Problems

 Lack of facilities and experienced doctors in remote area

 poor transportation system for patients in remote area

 Poor documentation of patient history

Hardware and Software

 Sensors (temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate)

 Analog to digital converter
 Arduino
 GSM or wifi module
 Lcd’s display
 Computer
 Arduino software
4) Methodology

Methodology comprises three main parts

1) Data acquisition:
2) Data transmission
3) Cloud processing

4.1) Data acquisition

Data collected by multiple wearable sensors
i.e. temperature, blood pressure and respiratory sensors etc.
4) Methodology

4.2) Data transmission

 data is transmitted from patient to data center of

healthcare organization

 data is stored with aided security and privacy

4) Methodology

4.3) Cloud processing

Cloud processing has three distinct stages

1) Storage
2) Analytics
3) Visualization
4) Methodology

1) Storage
 Data is to be stored. The stored data may include
record of general physical health as well as medical
assists for diagnosis

2) Analytics
 Analytics is to be performed on stored data
regarding patient health and its diseases
4) Methodology

3) Visualization
 Visualization is key element for such system
because it is impractical for physician to put such high
volumetric data into consideration.

 Visualization process convert data into an easily

understandable and digestible format which is
essential for clinical practice
Application

 Can be used in ICU.

 Miniaturizations.

 Help in collecting real life data.

Conclusion

 Healthcare systems makes use of interconnected

smart devices to establish an IOT network for
healthcare analysis, patient monitoring and
automatically identifying situations where a physician
involvement is needed.
