Preliminary

Management, work design and organizational


commitment constitute concepts that are important
concerns for success or failure an organization. The
three concepts basically cannot be separated - one
with the other in an organizational system. Success
achieving organizational goals must involve human
resources with good organization as planned.
Theoretical Framework

 Job Characteristics
In this case there are 5 parts, namely variations in skills, task identification,
task significance, autonomy and feedback.
Thus, the greater the level of the five task characteristics in a job, the greater
the likelihood that employees will be more motivated and feel satisfaction in
carrying out work.
 Organizational Commitment
Mowday et al.(1982), speciafically distinguish commitment from job
satisfaction by defining commitment as a response strong to trust organization
and job satisfaction as a respound of experience in certain work tasks.
Therefore it was conclueded that commitment emphasizes confidence in the
organization, enter the goals and values adopted. While satisfaction
emphasizes a specific task environment where a worker does his job.
Research methods

 Sample Selection and Data Collection


In the research systematic random sampling taking into account
the quality of information and practicality in determining
employee managerial level respondents
 Organizational Commitment
Organizational commitment variable is an endogenous variable
that functions as an intervening variable. Organizational
commitment is the attitude of the closeness of the relationship
between an employee and the organization that is manifested in
various forms such as loyalty, involvement and want to stay
(Monday et al. 1982)
Research result

 Job characteristics in a construction company


The significance of the task indicates that the tasks performed
by the employee will be beneficial the interests of
organizations and communities outside the organization.
Autonomy level given will arouse a greater sense of
responsibility
 Organizational Commitment
Commitment is still interpreted as loyalty which refers to blind
loyalty, meaning employees assume that keeping a company
alive is unethical. Except the employee considers that if the
employee stays in place the same thing throughout their career
is something that is reasonable.
Consclusion

The results of the study after examining the effect of job


characteristics on and organizational commitment to construction
service companies conclusions can be drawn that there are
positive and direct effects significant job characteristics of
organizational commitment.
The implication of the findings is organizational
commitment the high with the support of good job characteristics
at the end it will be expected to improve employee performance.
Other than that, theoretically high organizational commitment is a
signal there is high job satisfaction from company managerial
level employees construction service
