 DEFINITION
• Nursing education is a professional education
which is consciously and systematically planned
and implemented through instruction and
discipline and aims the harmonious development
of the physical, intellectual, social, emotional,
spiritual and aesthetic powers or abilities of the
student in order to render professional nursing
care to people of all ages, in all phases of health
and illness, in a variety of settings in the best or
highest possible manner.

 Philosophy of nursing education
• Philosophy of nursing education is the written
statement of the believes, values, attitudes
and ideals which the faculty as a group agreed
upon in relation to the nursing educational
program such as health, disease, nursing,
nurse, nursing as a profession, education,
learner, society, patient, nursing education
and preparation of nurses
• Perfect combination of philosophy of nursing and
philosophy of education.
• Application of fundamental belief of nursing and
education in the field of nursing education
• In philosophy of education, focus is on the
student
• In the philosophy of nursing, focus is on the
patient. Hence nursing education need to
emphasize both, the student as well as the
patient
• Philosophy looks at whole and nursing
education prepares the student to react to a
situation on a whole rather than fragments

• The staff of Lourdes college of Nursing – Sidhi
Sadan believes that the basic course in
Nursing is a formal educational preparation
which should be based on spiritual, human
and educational principles. We recognize it as
the foundation on which the practice of
nursing is build and on which further
professional education depends.
• At the same time we believe that, we have the
responsibility to the students and to the
society, to make provision in the programme
for the continued development of the student
as an individual, a citizen as well as a nurse.

• Caritas College of Nursing believes that their
duty is to impart formation to aspiring health
