 There is no real difference

between Political Science and

Politics.
 Political Science studies Politics
i.e. all political relations and
interactions in society.
 Modern Political Scientists do
not make a distinction between
the two.
"Politics" is the art of getting
people to vote for a particular
candidate or idea. It isn't
concerned so much with the
perfect theoretical voting
model as it is how to win the
election in the voting model in
place for the upcoming vote,
be it a legislative vote or an
election.
" Political Science" is the Social
Science of analyzing why people
believe how they believe,
including voting behaviors, but
also just public opinion in
general. It also encompasses
theoretic work on ideal voting
algorithms, poll construction,
and other similar related topics.
Points Difference between Political
Science & Politics:
1. Politics means the issues,
problems and political activities
which are actually taking place
in society. Political Science is a
social science which studies the
State and Government.
2 . Politics is concerned with the
day to day actual activities of
the Government.
Political Science seeks to
study the origin, nature, and
functions of the State,
Government and its all
organs.
3. Politics differs from State
to State and within a State
from time to time.
The principles of Political
Science are universal.
Politics in CHINA and PHILIPPINES is
different but the theory of Political Science is
the same in both the countries.
4. Whereas each one of us
is involved in politics,
either, directly or
indirectly,
Political Science is
studied only by the
students of this social
discipline.
NO
difference between
Politics &
Political Science
1. Politics or Political
Science means the
study of all political
relations and
interactions.
 Modern Political Scientists
do not accept any distinction
between Politics and
Political Science. They hold
that Politics is an appropriate
name for describing the
study of state, government,
political relations and
political processes.
“Politics is an art which is
related to the practical
problems of State and
Government; as against
it, Political Science is the
science of State.”
- Bluntschli
Let’s understand this analogy.

Trees comprises of roots, trunk,

branches. Roots upholds the
upper part of tree and provide it
with the needed stability to
grow and flourish. Trunk forms
the main body of a tree whereas
branches extending in various
direction holding the fruits.
Comparing, you will
find that legislative
body is similar to the
trunk of a tree which is
a major part of any
government system.
Policies made by this
legislative body is similar
to various branches of a
tree which is required to
run the system
efficiently.
A tree with no fruits,
branches are less likened.
And Politics is similar to the
roots providing strength to
the legislative body so that it
can thrive and present us
with better policies for
efficient working.
1. Politics
works as a
counter check of the
various policies made by
any government. Thus,
helping us avoid any
authoritarian decision
made.
2. If there’s no politics, there
may be a government which
will rule for a longer time
period. This will certainly
bring bad result as work may
be done at one’s whims and
fancies leading to the
authoritarian government.
NO POLITICS

AUTHORITARAINISM

POLICY PARALYSIS

POOR RESULTS
Trunk without roots or
branches is not a tree but just a
piece of wood. In a similar way
governing body without
having hurdle of politics is just
a hollow system which is not
capable of running the system
in a proper manner.
Shortly, System will wither
away without politics.
