Culture and society

CULTURE-refers to the set of beliefs, practices, learned behavior, and moral


values that are passed on, from one generation to another.

SOCIETY-means an interdependent group of people who live together in


particular region and are associated to one another.
Characteristics of culture

 Culture is learned-culture is learned behavior that is transmitted from one member of


society to another.

 Culture is interrelated-the elements of culture are interrelated. because culture is learned


from the family, educational institution and social institutions that are interrelated

 Culture is adaptive- culture is adaptive because culture is a learned behavior

 Culture is shared – a bunch of individuals shares every culture, sometimes inhibiting


 CULTURE IS SYMBOL: Culture is a kind of sign or symbol. By observing the pattern of the culture of people we
can easily understand the region or country from which they come.

 CULTURE IS DYNAMIC: No culture is static. Cultural swings take place. As the environment is changing culture
has to be changed in order to survive.

 CULTURE CHANGES: Cultures gradual amendment. With passing time, some beliefs, traditions, language, and
mannerisms are changes. Migration and economic process result in a mix of cultures.

 CULTURE TAKES YEARS TO CREATE:It’s true that we have a tendency to influence all the cultures. In fact,
culture evolves over time and takes years to develop. It’s not a group of rules created by one or a lot of folks
and originally followed by all generations. The geographical location and weather conditions of an area
have a right away impact on the living situation of the inhabitants
 CULTURE CANNOT BE ISOLATED: Studies have brought out the very fact that no culture will stay
in isolation. There’s hardly any social community that’s fully isolated from the remainder of the
globe. Each culture is influenced by cultures of the encompassing regions. Years ago, there
have been social group societies that stayed in seclusion, unaware of the globe outside.

 RELIGION IS IMPORTANT : Of course, there is a strong impact of religion in a society. Religion may
impact how people greeting when they meet, how they dress and what they eat. Actually,
religion has a great impact on a human’s daily life.

 CULTURE IS TRANSMITTED ACROSS THE GENERATION: Cultural values transferred across


generations within the style of symbols and stories that create them easier to know. Most of the
time, values, and spiritual beliefs also created and transmitted through the generation.
ASPECTS OF CULTURE
ART

Art Influences Culture, culture also provide a commanding and democratic way of sharing,
shaping, and expressing human values. They allow us to explore our inner capabilities and
give us insights on how we imagine and use different means to relate with each other.
MUSIC

Although most people have their own preferences on the type of music that they enjoy
listening to, each culture can agree that the tunes are the important part of life with
expressing ourselves as human beings. By appreciating the art form, it makes it easy to unite
and relate to others who are different than ourselves.
FOOD

There is more of a connection between food and culture than you may think. On an
individual level, we grow up eating the food of our cultures… On a larger scale, food is an
important part of culture. Traditional cuisine is passed down from one generation to the next.
DAILY LIFE

Culture is the arcing reality of living a daily life in the individual surrounding neighborhood;
where ones lives, work, and plays. Society is the manifestation of a country area where
individuals interact with a given set of rules.
CLOTHING

The era, beliefs held by the people living in it, and the culture in the era and in that region
play a considerable role in influencing it’s fashion trends. … It becomes the fashion of the
region, then. People adopt a trend in the clothing only if it is in the accordance with the
culture of that area
