Introduction

• With the increasing

application of LCA,
database management
should be addressed well
to support robust and
reliable application.
• The urgency for database
management is driven by
many factors, such as in
US LCI Database
Background
Introduction
• Indonesia was the largest country in South East Asia that have many
activities in agriculture, plantation, industry, forestry, fisheries, industry,
construction and civil etc.
• Important to develop the Indonesian Life Cycle Inventory database (ID-
LCI) for Life Cycle Assessment.

Scope
• The Indonesian LCA database contains: Agriculture, plantation, forestry,
fisheries, mining, industry, construction and civil.
• Geographical scope of ID-LCA is set to the whole of Indonesia.

LCA = Indonesian Sustainability

4
Goals
• Provide commonly used materials, products, and
processes in Indonesia with up-to-date, critically
reviewed LCI data.
• Maintain data quality and transparency
• Support the expanded use of LCA as an
environmental decision-making tool.
• Support the compatibility with international LCI
databases compliance.
• Support industry competitiveness
Why we need Indonesian Database ?
Integrated Inventory Database
• There are various of the agricultural, industry, transportation, and waste
management practices in Indonesia.
• Need the data integration of the Indonesian Life Cycle Inventory (ID-LCI)
for national scale.
• The research conducted by researchers should be integrated in one
database to manage ensure the data sharing, data quality, and
distribution.

Problem
• There is no Indonesian integrated database of ID-LCI for various
production system in Indonesia.
• Need the ID-LCI for geographical scope of ID-LCA is set to the whole of
Indonesia.

Flow and method
The flow and method to develop the IND-LCI consist of the 4 main
activities: stakeholder meeting, team development and FGD, co-working
per sector, database management system development.

System Development FGD

Co-working per sector

Flow and method
1. Stakeholder Meeting
• The stakeholder consist of: Academic (A), Business (B), Government, and
Society (S); ABG-S
Flow and method
2. Team Development and FGD

Team development
• The team develop per sector to make the deep life cycle inventory and
data collection
• Co working with the stakeholders: Academic (A), Business (B),
Government, and Society (S); ABG-S

Focus Group Discussion (FGD)

• Focus group discussion FGD  develop the standard for life cycle
inventory for each sectors.
• Development the inventory standard change-able value and un-
changeable value.
Flow and method

3. Co-working per-sector

Scope definition
• The team in every sector developed the scope of the ID-LCI for every
sectors.
• Investigate the variety of process in one system, for example production
of palm oil consist of: small scale farmer, group of farmers, and industry.

IND-Life Cycle Inventory

• Develop the inventory of the specific case standard based on the
Indonesian geographic.
• Develop the inventory of the Indonesian standard.
• Data collection and validation.
