Praxis Testing
 Praxis
• There are three levels of standardized tests developed by the educational
testing service.
• Praxis 1: assess reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
• Praxis 2: Measures prospective teachers knowledge of the teaching and
learning process and the subjects they will teach.
• Praxis 3: Focuses on classroom performance assessment and is usually taken
by teachers in their first year of teaching.
 Requirements for Nevada
teachers license
• Must be a citizen of the U.S. or a permanent resident of the U.S.
• Must meet all requirements academic preparation, student teaching, and competency
testing for the specific area of licensure for which you are applying.
• A criminal background check is required of all applicants for licensure.

 Cost
• A fee of $161.00 is what you have to pay for a state license to become a
teacher.
• An extra $50.00 is charged for additional endorsement added to the license.
 Test Day Overview
• Verify your test location
• Print your admission ticket
• Assemble your ID documents
• Review the list of important documents to bring
• Dress appropriately
• Review
• Make sure to arrive on time
• Plan to be at the test center for longer than the test duration
 Test Retake Policy
• You can retake a praxis test once every 21 days, this does not include the
initial test date. If you take a combined test, such as the Elementary
Education: Multiple Subjects Test or the PA Grades 4-8 Core Assessment,
you cannot retake a subtest until after the 21 day period.
• This is to be taken into consideration even if you cancel your test scores on a
test taken previously. If this violated, the scores from your retest will not be
reported and your test fees will not be refunded.
