FINANCIAL NEEDS

•Financial problems Visits to doctors, hospital


pharmacies and therapists often drain the
family's resources.
•Caregivers of children with severe CP are often
unable to find employment, as their children
require full-time care. These families may
qualify for a care dependency grant and this
should be offered to them.
 In addition to the healthcare system, the cost impact of
CP on unpaid family careers, communities, and the
welfare and education systems is significant.

 In addition to financial assistance, many children with


CP require additional supports to assist their learning at
school and access to technology and therapists, including
speech pathologists, physiotherapists and occupational
therapists.

 CHASA, UHCCF, MORGAN project are some of the


organization in america who provide financial support to
families.
VOCATIONAL NEEDS
 The estimated employment rate among persons
with cerebral palsy, some in sheltered work, is
approximately 50%.
 Integrated education, vocational counseling,
community-based independent living programs,
and technologic advances were additional factors
contributing to success.
 Vocational programs for severely disabled start
too late, say around 16 to 18 years of age.
 Most school-based programs do not place job
placement/employment as a end point of training.
 A “Value clarification” of the C.P. school-goer
from the parent, educators, the community and
the school.
