AUTOCAD
An Introduction

PRESENTED BY: ABHISHEK SHARMA

Introduction

Writing few important

words about AutoCAD
Applications’ usability
and their History.
 AutoCAD was developed by Autodesk.
 AutoCAD is system software which supports both 2
Dimensional(2D) and 3 Dimensional (3D) formats.
 Bridges the gap between imagination and implementation,
as designs can be created, modified, and optimized in
electronic form.
Characteristics of AutoCAD
The use of AutoCAD software provides enhanced graphic
capabilities which allow the designers to:

1. Conceptualization of Ideas using AutoCAD

2. Easy modification of the engineering designs
3. Perform design calculations quickly
4. Use colures, fonts, textures, and other aesthetic features
CORDINATE SYSTAM:-THERE ARE BASICALLY THREE
CO-ORDINATE SYSTAMS WHICH ARE USED IN AUTO-
CAD.

USES OF FUNCTION KEYS IN AUTO CAD-

 F1- HELPS
 F2- COMAND LINE POP-UP
 F3- OSNAP ON/OFF
 F4- 3-D OSNAP ON/OFF
 F5- TO CHANGE ISOPLANE IN ISOMETRIC DRAFTING
 F6- DYNAMIC UCS ON/OFF
 F7- GRID ON/OFF
 F8- ORTHO ON/OFF
 F9- SNAP ON/OFF
 F10- POLAR MODE ON/OFF
 F11- OBJECT SNAP ON/OFF
 F12- DYNAMIC INPUT ON/OFF
TYPES OF SELECTION
 BLUE SELECTION- WHENEVER YOU SELECTED BY
THIS SELECTION PROCESS YOU MUST SELECT FULL
ELEMENT.
 GREEN SELECTION- IN THIS SELECTION YOU NEED
NOT TO SELECT FULL ELEMENT.
SOME BASIC COMMAND IN AUTO CAD

 TRIM- IT IS USE TO ELIMINATE A SELECTION OF YOUR

SCATCH.
 MIRROR- IT IS USE TO REPLICATE AN OBJECT ABOUT
AN FIX AXIS.
 COPY- USE FOR COPY AN OBJECT.
 MOVE-USE FOR TRANSFER AN OBJECT
 EXPLODE- TO CONVERT A POLYLINE STRUCTURE INTO
MAXIMUM POSSIBLE PARTS.
 JOIN- OPPOSITE OF EXPLODE
 REVISION CLOUD- USE TO MARK ANY REVISION
 FILLET-TO CONVERT A SHARP CORNER INTO
RADIAL CORNERS.
 ROTATE- TO ROTATE AN OBJECT AN PERTICULER
AXIS.
 OFFSET-USE TO REPEAT AN OBJECT.
 SCALE- USE TO INCREASE OR DECREASE THE SIZE
OF OBJECT
How do we give a command?

 Command line

 Toolbars
(view/Toolbars)

www.admecindia.co.in
 Drop-down menus
You can pick any one(s) that you are comfortable with.
What is OSNAP?

www.cadtraininginstitute.com |
 Osnap (Object Snap) settings make it easier to select a 2d
object’s points

 Endpoint
 Midpoint
 Perpendicular
 Center
 İntersection

 Osnap will be active when AutoCAD is expecting you to
pick a point on the working area.

Type Osnap on your command window:

Zooming...

 You will need to zoom in and out while drawing with AutoCAD.
This doesnt change your objects or UCS, only the way you see your
working space. This can be done in many ways:

1. Scroll bars
2. Typing z or zoom in your command window.

Lets draw a LINE:

 Remember that AutoCAD recognizes an object by its
coordinates. You will need two given points to draw a line.
(x2,y2,z2)

(x1,y1,z1)

 You can start at a random point on your WCS for your FIRST POINT,
but you should specify the coordinates of your SECOND POINT.
