MONITORING & CONTROL
 Ways to track the course of all activities and
events in the project
 A system which compares progress to plan so
that corrective action can be taken when
deviation from the planned performance occurs.
 Requires you to collect data on the actual
progress of the project and to verify whether the
effort is progressing in conformance with the
plans and specification.

MONITORING & CONTROL
Time Utilization
1. Any difference between estimated start dates and
actual start dates.
2. Any difference between estimated finish dates and
actual finish dates
3. Monitoring actual progress relative to planned
progress
4. Any unexpected delays or other abnormalities that
alter the project completion dates
5. Any activities performed out of network sequence
6. Any milestone activities that appear unachievable
MONITORING & CONTROL
Resources utilization
1. Detect any difference between estimated resource
requirement and actual resource requirement for
each activity and for the entire project
2. List significant deviations
3. Determine whether the original resource estimates
for any particular activity needs to be revised
4. Determine if any delay in the project will result to the
re-estimate of resources
MONITORING & CONTROL
Funds Utilization
1. Detect any differences between estimated cost and
actual cost for each activity and the entire project
2. List any significant deviations
3. Determine the cost of variance
4. Decide whether original cost estimate have been
revised
5. List activities requiring revision in their cost
estimates
6. Assess whether the revisions will affect the cost
estimate for the entire project
