STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

• 1. What is the most common age smokers started to

• 2. What factors influence students to smoke?

• 3. What recommendations can be used by the students to

avoid smoking?
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
• The study dealt with the factors that influence the students to
engage in smoking cigarette and their age when they started
smoking. The discussion on the key factors as reviewed in
related literature, the gathered data and the statistical tools
employed in the study served as an INPUT.
• The PROCESS involved determining the factors that
influence the students to smoke and identifying the age of the
smokers when they started smoking. It also included analysis,
interpretation and implications of the results.
• The OUTPUT included the recommendations of the
researchers to help students develop awareness about smoking

FEEDBACK
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This research made use of mixed research design. The

researchers used quantitative to support the qualitative research.

Quantitative data used for determining the number of smoker and non-

smoker. It also used to determine what particular ages of smokers they

start smoking cigarette and treating the influential factors that answer the

question number two in statement of the problem. The qualitative data

utilized in interviewing the chosen respondent to their recommendations.

The question number three in statement of the problem is

answered by the interview in the respondent. They chose this type

of research to make sure the validity and reliability of the

findings. They rely on the views of the respondents so that they

will come out to answer the statement of the problem.

POPULATION AND SAMPLING
Pariaan National High School is the target study population of
the researchers especially grade nine to 12 students in total of 253. The
researchers used sampling interval in conducting a survey it means it is
the distance between which measurements are taken are data are
recorded. In research it refers as “nth selection” in the list. It produces a
random selection from throughout the total population. In this research
the researchers used one interval from the total population of each
section. Other sampling is purposive sampling the research used it in
Grade 12-Galileo because it have small amount of population. Stratified
sampling are used in interviewing of chosen respondent.

CONCLUSION
This research rested on the conclusion that the practice of

smoking of students of Pariaan National High School as perceived

both by the smokers and non-smokers are influenced by peers or

friends. This means that the students were highly influenced by the

people around them especially when they are gathering together

where parents or adults are not able to monitor them. The research also
CONCLUSION
concluded that the students of this school practiced smoking at the age of 16-17

and it means they are at the crucial stage of development and they are at the age

where students already developed understanding about what they are doing. So

this research will be an eye-opening medium for the students.

RECOMMENDATIONS
This research highly recommends that the students should
know how to assess their groups of friends, select their friends
and know whether they should practice smoking with their
friends. The students should be able to understand the end-result
of smoking and prevent themselves from suffering the bad
consequences of smoking in the future. It is also recommended
that the parents should monitor their children who are smoking
and the risk of knowing how to smoke. Parents should know how
to help their children select their friends.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Parents should know how to help their children select their

friends. Parents who cannot do away with smoking should not

practice smoking in front of their children so that the children

would not imitate them. The community and the school should

practice an intense compliance with the provisions and policies

on smoking.
