Introduction
Introduction
• Make in India is a type Swadeshi movement which was launched by government of India on 25th
september 2014 which was covering 25 percent of economy.

• This was launched to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India and enthus with
dedicated investment into manufacturing and also to transform India into a global design and
manufacturing hub.

• The MSME is the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which is an apex body of rules,
regulation and laws relating to Enterprises in India.

• Make in India act as a fasclitator that helps the MSME sector to grow in a faster rate and become more
competitive.

• Now the trend is moving towards Industry 4.0 that deals with large amount of data exchange and
automation in manufacturing industries
Introduction
Revolution in Industry
Make in India
• Make in India is started by our PM Narendra Modi on 25th September, 2014 to make India globaly
competitable in the aspects of industry mainly in manufacturing part.

• So it is mainly for industry to have globally -equal participating opportunity and have a compatible with
other.

• Through Make in India, there will be a ease of starting and doing business and also in ongoing
Campaign.

• After launching Make in India, India gave investment commitments of worth ₹16.40 lac crore.

• According to the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business Report’: India is on now 77th position among 190
countries which was earlier 100th. So India has hiked up by 23 position after starting this program.

• By the end of 2017, India had risen 42 places on easen of doing business index,
32 places world economic forum’s global compitivene
19 nothches in logistic performance index.
• There are multiple programme under make in India scheme such as- Bharatmala Pariyojana,
Sagarmala , Dedicated Freight Corridors corporation of India Limited, Industrial Corridors, UDAN-RCS,
Broadband Network, Digital India, etc.

• Bharatmala Pariyojana- Centrally sponsorod and funded Funded for Roads and highways

• Sagarmala- To enhance the performance of country’s logistics sector

• Dedicated Freight corridors corporation of India Limited- It is a public sector undertaking

corporation run by government of India’s Ministry of Railway to undertake planning, development and
mobilisation of financial resources and construction, maintenance and operation of dedicated freight
corridors. It was registered as a company in 2006

• Industrial Corridors- it is a package of infrastructure spending allocated to a specific geographical

area with intent to stimulated industrial development.
MSME
• The minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is Nitin Gadkari.

• Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) plays a crucial role in the socio-economic growth story
of India.

• Inadequate access to technology, technical and business skill, markets and finance have been
highlighted as some of the key constrains for MSMEs in the manufacturing sector.

• Contribution of the manufacturing to India’s GDP is about 16 percent which is far behind some of the
neighboring and comparably economies.

• The National Manufacturing Policy (amended in 2016) sets a target to increase its contribution to 25
percent and creating 100 million jobs.
Industry 4.0
• Industry 4.0 is on the verge of radically changing the way in which manufacturers operate.

• This approach is expected as a way towards a future in which smart factories, intelligent machines and
networked processes are brought together to encourage greater manufacturing productivity, flexibility
and profitability.

• Industry 4.0 mainly comprising of a ‘connected shop floor’ where data is collected from various sensors
and other input devices to be used for predictive maintenance, better control and long term analysis.

• Industry 4.0 is driven by an amalgamation of emerging technologies like data volumes, computational
power, Internet of Things, business analytics, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, elemental design,
simulation, advanced robotics, additive manufacturing, sensor based technologies and cyber-physical
systems.

• Industry 4.0 focuses on the end-to-end digitalization of every data in manufacturing process from input
to finished product out of industry also connecting and integrating digital environments with value chain
partners upto customer end.
Why Industry 4.0
It can increase the speed of innovation and is very consumer
01 centered ,leading to faster design processes.

Workers can become co-ordinators at the center of

02 production, possibly improving the work-life balance of
employees

It helps manufacturers with current challenges by becoming

03 more flexible and making reacting to change in market easier

Industry 4.0 is sustainable long term ,assisting and finding

04 solutions for any challenge that arises.

So, Why Industry 4.0?Because it can help us incorporate itself and all of
these benefits, into your current manufacturing leading you into a
sustainable and profitable future.

Challenges
• Lack of standardisation.

• Lack of clear digital vision.

• Lack of data analytics capabilities.

• Data security.

• The major risk with recording, storage and analysis of large volumes of customer data is the
inappropriate use of the said data.

• Though concepts like sharing of data and integration of technology are not new, however, lack of
standards or rather prevalence of proprietary standards is going to be a road block.
Challenges
We can’t make mere copy-and-paste of Industry 4.0 models practice elsewhere will not work for India
because in developed countries, the industries follows standard operating procedure in everything they do.
So, digitalization for standard process is very simple.

In India, we don’t have skilled labors for advanced technologies related to Industry 4.0
Make in India program for Industry 4.0
• The first step Indian MSMEs should take is to get organize and have standard process in place and then
only it can benefit from trends such as digitalization ,AI ,Big Data can flow in proper direction

• The make in India program should launch program to up skill the labour skills towards the technology
related to industry 4.0

• Asking the business to shun the idea of “Jugaad” as it has been hampering their growth potential across
different sectors. Jugaad concept and digitalization do not go hand in hand

• If India is to benefit from Industry 4.0 and win against global competition, it has necessarily to
integrate the principles of Industry 4.0 with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. “Make in India”
initiative is more broad-based idea to encourage multi-national, as well as national companies to
manufacture their products in India. Government is focusing more on enabling policies and
improving infrastructure for certain key Sectors.
Towards Smart Manufacturing : Industry
4.0 and India
• ‘Make in India’ initiative spreadheading wider adoption of ‘Industry 4.0’.

• India’s strength in Information Technology and a large workforce of IT professionals, the transformative
journey of manufacturing through Industry 4.0 has enhances this project.

• Under the Government of India’s ‘Smart Cities Mission’, the projects to build 100 smart cities across India
are being touted as the forerunners of the Industry 4.0 environment.

• Additionally, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is building India’s first Smart Factory in Bengaluru with a
seed funding from the Boeing Company.

• General Electric has invested USD 200 Million in multi-model factory in India where digitally interlinked
chains, distribution networks, and servicing units form part of this intelligent ecosystem.

• The concept of ‘Industry 4.0’ is going to change the way India manufacture, designs and refurbishes the
products.
6 Sectors boosting Make in India
