“TECHNOLOGICAL PREPAREDNESS OF
ELEMENTARY TEACHERS IN SAN NARCISO
DISTRICT:
IMPLICATIONS TO INSTRUCTIONAL
IMPROVEMENT”
Statement of the Problem
This study will determine the factors that affect the level of readiness of the public
elementary school teachers on the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in
instruction.
Specifically, the study will seek answers to the following questions:
What is the profile of the teachers in terms of:
1.1. age;
1.2. gender;
1.3. teaching rank;
1.4. length of service;
1.5. highest educational attainment;
1.6. number of hours of In-service trainings/
seminars (related to Information Technology) attended; and
2. How is the use of ICT facilities in teaching may be described in
relation to:
2.1. availability of computer hardware;
2.2. access to ICT facilities;
2.3. nature of use of computer; and
2.4. frequency of computer use in teaching?
3. How may the perception of teachers be described in the
integration of ICT in teaching?
3.1. ICT in improving students academic performances
3.2. ICT in improving teaching performances
4. What are the perceived major obstacles affecting the readiness
of teachers on the use of ICT in instruction?
4.1. knowledge;
4.2. attitude;
4.3. availability of technology;
4.4. time; and
4.5. administrative support?

5. What implication can be drawn from the findings of the study

towards ICT needs of teachers and improvement of teaching?
The basis of conceptualizing the usefulness of ICT in
Education is to enhance teachers to learn how to use
computer application in preparing instructional materials
like audiovisual presentations that can help reinforce the
lessons they teach. With this in mind, it is important for
teachers to be equipped with ICT skills not just for their
work efficiency, but more importantly for the use of this
medium in delivery instruction.
Paradigm of the Research Process
Hypotheses

For a deeper analysis of the study, a null hypothesis will be

tested:

 There are no significant differences between the Technological

Preparedness of Teachers when grouped according to their
age, gender, position, length of service, highest educational
attainment, and in-service trainings/ seminars (related to ICT)
attended.
This study will use the descriptive type of research .
Descriptive studies are often described as studies that are
concerned with finding out “what is”.
The researcher wants to find out if the teachers of San
Narciso District are technologically prepared and if their
readiness has implications to their instructional
improvement.
The study will be conducted in all Elementary School of San Narciso District,
Division of Zambales. The target respondents are the public elementary school teachers
and master teachers who are directly involved in the subject of the study.

Data needed for this study will be obtained mainly through questionnaire.
Observations and informal interviews will likewise be conducted to support or verify the
respondents’ responses in the questionnaire. The results gathered from the auxiliary
methods substantiated data obtained from the questionnaire.

The research instrument consisted of three (3) parts:

Part I-This part dealt with the personal profile of the respondents as to age, gender, highest
educational attainment/ specialization, length of teaching experience, teaching position,
and seminars
Part II -This part pertained to the Technological Preparedness of Teachers which include the
availability of computer hardware, access to ICT facilities, nature of use of computer, and
frequency of computer use in teaching, and integration of ICT in teaching.
Part III – This are perceived major obstacles affecting the Preparedness of Teachers on the
Use of ICT in Instruction.
The researcher will seek permission from the Division Superintendent
and the District Supervisor of San Narciso District to conduct her study . The
questionnaires shall be personally distributed and retrieved by the researcher
to all elementary school teachers in San Narciso District to ensure that
hundred percent of the instrument shall be retrieved from the respondents.
After the retrieval of the questionnaires, the data will be analyze and interpret
utilizing the statistical measures suitable to the study.
The data that will be gathered from the questionnaire will
be collected and presented in tables. Appropriate statistical
treatment will be used in study will include the following:
Percentage and frequency distribution it will be used to organize and
describe the personal profile of the respondents. As to age, gender,
highest educational attainment/ specialization, length of teaching
experience, teaching position, and seminars
Weighted Mean and Descriptive Rating it will be used since different
groups of respondents involved contributing to an overall average.
The weighted mean measured the technological preparedness of
elementary teachers at San Narciso District; implication to
instructional development.
Test of Normality. As a general rule in using parametric statistical treatment in
research writing, the data will have to undergo tests using Graphs and Shapiro-
Wilks Testing to justify that data are normally distributed. Referring to the data
s, all the values under the last column are greater than 0.05, this means that
the data to be gather are normally distributed

T-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) it will be utilized in testing if there is a

significant difference between technological preparedness when the
respondents are grouped according to their age, gender, position, length of
service, highest educational attainment, seminars attended, and level of
information technology competence The rejection or acceptances of the null
hypotheses were based on some level of difference as a criterion. The % and
1% level.
