Mist. It fell wisely over the landscape, blocking out the light.
Blocking out the life. Weaving through the desolate landscape, it
removed everything: animals scurried for cover; birds flew
strongly south; humanity escaped into the towns. Shadowed over
the last glimmer of sun, it moved like a leopard seeking its prey.
Who knew where it would move next? What it would take? Who
it would take? It only wanted one thing: Him.

I moved so slowly that the pain must have been obvious to the
human eye. Behind the edge of the mist, I was hidden from view.
Hidden. For years I had escaped its clutches, but now I knew it
was nearly the end: There was no other choice.
