TYPES
BOILER
The water in the boiler receives heat from heated surface of boiler,
the heat gases are formed by burning fuel, fuel maybe coal, oil, or
any gas in its furnace.
The steam which is collected over the water surface is taken from
the boiler through superheater and then suitable pipes for driving
engines or turbines or for some industrial heating purpose
Parts Of Boiler
Shell :- it is usually of cylindrical shape which contains water and steam
Furnace:- this maybe a gate to burn coal or a burner to atomizer and burn liquid
fuel.
Water flow path:- the path followed by water in the boiler during the process of
conversion into steam.
Gas flow path:- the path followed by hot gases. It should be arranged in such a
way that maximum heat of the gases should be transferred to water for steam
generation.
Steam path:- in most of the boiler the steam is taken out preferably at the top of
the shell to avoid water particles being carried with the steam
Types of boiler
{on the basis of flow}
FIRE TUBE BOILER
Disadvantages
The fire tube boiler cant produce steam at high pressure .
Steam generation capacity is limited.
WATER TUBE BOILER
A water tube boiler is such kind of boiler where the water is heated
inside tubes and the hot gasses surround them. This is the basic
definition of water tube boiler. Actually this boiler is just opposite of
fire tube boiler where hot gasses are passed through tubes which are
surrounded by water.
WORKING OF WATER TUBE BOILER
Advantages
Large heating surface can be achieved by using more no. of water
tubes.
Very high pressure can be obtained.
Disadvantages
Water Tube Damage: Boiler Tube can be damaged if there is any dust
in the feed water. Because it blocks the water circulation. Deposition of
salt and sediments in the inner surface of Water Tube is a common
problem for this type of boiler.
