Water Pollution
 Fresh water is the most important source of life on the earth. Any living thing
may survive without food for days however it is impossible to imagine life
without water and oxygen. The ever increasing human population enhances the
demand of more water for purposes like drinking, washing, performing industrial
processes, irrigating , arranging swimming pools and other water-sports centres.
Water pollution is done by the people of all over the world because of increasing
demands and competitions of luxuries life. Waste products from many human
activities are spoiling the whole water and decreasing the amount of oxygen
available in the water. Such pollutants are altering the physical, chemical,
thermal, and biological characteristics of the water and adversely affecting the
lives inside as well as outside the water.
When we drink the polluted water, harmful chemicals and other pollutants goes
inside our body and deteriorates all the body organs functioning and puts our
lives in danger. Such harmful chemicals also disturb the lives of animals and
plants greatly. When plants absorb dirty water through their roots, they stop
growing and die. Thousands of seabirds are killing because of the oil spilling
from ships and industries. High level of water pollution is done due to the
chemicals coming out of the agricultural usage of fertilizers, insecticides and
pesticides. The degradation of drinking water needs an urgent basis prevention
method which is possible by the proper understanding and support from the end
of each and every person living on the earth.
Air Pollution
 Air pollution is one of the main environmental issues nowadays. There
are many reasons behind regularly increasing this air pollution. Most of
the air pollution is caused by the automobiles, transport means,
industrialization, growing cities, etc. The release of several harmful
gases or dangerous elements from such sources is causing the whole
atmospheric air pollution. Ozone layer is also getting affected too much
by the air pollution which causes serious disturbances to the
environment. Increasing need of the ever growing human population is
main cause of pollution. Daily human being activities causing dangerous
chemicals to release, making atmosphere dirtier than ever and forcing
the climate change negatively.
 Industrialization process releases many harmful gases,
particles, paint and batteries contains lead, cigarettes
releases carbon monoxide, transport means releases CO2
and other toxic substances to the atmosphere. All the
pollutants are being in contact with the atmosphere,
destroying the ozone layer and calling harmful rays of sun
to the earth. In order to reduce the level of air pollution we
should bring some huge changes to our habits on daily
basis. We should not cut trees, use public transportation,
avoid spray cans, and so many activities in the favor to
reduce the effects of air pollution.
Land Pollution
 It is rightly said, “A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself”.
Land pollution has an adverse effect on the living beings as well as
on the environment as a whole. It is one of the main causes of the
growing number of illnesses around. We often complain that the
government is not taking proper measures to bring down the land
pollution. But are we doing our bit to lower the same? No! On the
contrary we are only adding to it, knowingly or unknowingly. It is
high time we must take it as our duty to lower the pollution level by
making whatever effort we can at an individual level.
 Causes of Land Pollution
Land pollution is caused owing to various factors. These factors are both natural as well as those induced by
man. Here is a look at the various reasons for the same:
Industrial Waste
One of the biggest causes of land pollution is the industrial waste. Lack of proper options to dispose of the
industrial waste which is generated in vast quantity leads to land pollution. The chemical and toxic waste is
thrown in large dumping grounds that breed mosquitoes, flies, rats and rodents. It gives way to various
illnesses as well as air pollution.
Mining
Mining is essential for the extraction of minerals and metals that are used in various day to day products. It
causes mass destruction of trees and plants and degrades the land. The digging of soil and use of heavy
machinery to carry out the process of mining causes land pollution.
Pesticides
While it is essential to use pesticides for growing crops and it is alright to do so however over usage of the
same can be harmful. This is because in addition to killing the organisms that hamper the growth of plants
these medicinal sprays also kill the microorganisms that are useful for plant growth. Besides, over usage of
pesticides and other chemical products contaminates the soil and degrades it. It causes land pollution and the
place no longer remains fit for agriculture.
Cutting of Trees
We all know that trees play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity which is essential for creating ecological
balance. They also help in enhancing the soil fertility and increasing soil aeration. However, unfortunately
forests are being cut at a rapid pace. This exposes the soil to direct sunlight which is harmful in many ways. It
makes the land barren by extracting all the water and also kills microorganisms that are useful for the soil.
The damage caused to the soil is counted as land pollution.

Watching smoke stacks choke the sky
Always makes me want to cry.
I just can't help but wonder why
The factories won't even try
To find a safer, better way
To put their poisonous waste away.
2/It Starts With a Wrapper
It starts with a wrapper
Casually dropped in the street.
Someone else will pick it up,
Why worry about being neat?
Next it's a to-go cup
Left on the ground at the park.

Really isn't smart.

3/Where are the birds that used to dot the sky?
They're not here anymore, and I have to wonder why.
Where are the fish that used to swim in this stream?
I can't see them anymore. What does that mean?
Where are the frogs that used to croak around this lake?
I can't hear them anymore. There must be some mistake.
I wish there was a clock whose hands I could rewind.
We might have saved these creatures if we'd just had
more time.
Time to make people see how we're damaging our Earth,
Time to realize what it all was truly worth.
But the animals are disappearing at an alarming rate.
If we don't finally band together, it may really be too late.
