OBJECTIVE
 Electricity is one of the major need of the people. What if we can generate it for free using some
Engineering approach ?

 In this project we are aiming to : 1. To decrease the temperature of Exhaust.

 2. And further to generate Power .

 We are generating power from Kinetic Energy of Vapour of Refrigerant’s Latent Heat that is being
wasted to the surrounding .

 As these Vapour themperature is high compared to the surrounding, we are first cooling the vapour
by expanding them through diffusers, keeping in mind of the Global Warming.

 Then the vapour passes through the duct which is in the form nozzle.

 At the end of the duct there is a Turbine which is connected to the generator which produces
Electricity. Though the Electricity produced is very less.

 It can be used in the area or building where there are many A/Cs attached.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
 Air-conditioning is that process used to create and maintain certain temperature, relative humidity and
air purity conditions in indoor spaces. This process is typically applied to maintain a level of personal
comfort.
 The main process underlying air-conditioning is the exchange of heat and water vapour between the
indoor and outdoor environments and the people inside the air-conditioned space.
 As we could see the need of AC how vigorously increased, we have the data from 2012 – 2017.
Global room air conditioners (RAC) demand is reached 96.05 million units in 2017, with a
significant increase compared with 2016.
The largest market was China, as the world’s single-largest producer of room air
conditioners (RAC), as well as the largest buyer in terms of the number of RACs, procured
annually.
The second-largest market was Asia, excluding Japan and China.
The third largest market is Japan, whose demand reached 8.93 million units with a 6.9%
increase. North America reached 8.13 million units with a 1.2% increase, followed by Latin
America with 6.09 million units and 5.3% increase, and Europe with 5.83 million units and
8.7% increase.

The Reason we are presenting this data
Is to show that how much AC is contributing
Towards the global warming
And it is day by day increasing globally.
So that is the reason we are expanding the hot air
from the exhaust and reduce its temperature so that it
does not harm our environment.
And we are further harnessing the electricity with the
help of micro motor wind turbine.
The principal appliances used in home and industrial
air-conditioning are:

 Packaged, split or multi-split air-conditioners for
home use;
 Residential heat pumps;
 Air handling units for medium/large spaces;
 Rooftop units, air handling units for small spaces;
MECHANISM OF AC

An air conditioner (AC) in a room or a car works by collecting

hot air from a given space, processing it to release cool air into the
same space where the hot air had originally been collected.
This processing is primarily done using five components:
 Evaporator
 Compressor
 Condenser
 Expansion valve
 Refrigerant
SYSTEM’s
PARTS :
1.SPLIT AC OUTDOOR UNIT
2. DIVERGENT NOZZLE

A divergent nozzle is a tube of varying cross-sectional area (usually axisymmetric) aiming at decreasing
the speed , temperature and pressure of an outflow air and controlling its direction.
3.a) VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINE
GENERATOR
In our Project work we are using
Savonius model based VAWT

It has Low Tip Speed But its Drag is

High

CALCULATION

While Studying about the Project Work We Have Considered,
Hyundai 24K Split Fixed Type Split AC
Outdoor Unit : HRH – I243NBE (220 – 240 V / 50Hz)
As we are using thermocouples in Diffuser which will
give the temperature
of inside and outside point.
For the further calculation of turbine output we will use
the equation of wind turbine.
So we could use the Fan Motor Speed that is 850 rpm
We could use this velocity to harness the electricity
when we it impinges on the turbine blades
How ever from the betz limit we could only able to
harness 59%, but practically we could achieve 30% .
