1. HOW TO MEASURE DC VOLTAGE

1. Set the Position of the Selector Switch to DCV

2. Choose a scale according to the estimated voltage to be measured. If you want to measure 6 Volts, turn the
selector switch to 12 Volts (Analog Multimeter only)
** If you do not know the high voltage measured, it is recommended to choose a higher voltage scale to avoid
damage to the multimeter.
3. Connect the probe to the voltage terminal to be measured. Red Probe on the Positive (+) terminal and Black
Probe to the Negative (-) terminal. Be careful not to reverse.
4. Read the measurement results on the Multimeter Display.
2. HOW TO MEASURE AC VOLTAGE

1. Set the Position of the Selector Switch to ACV

2. Select the scale according to the estimated voltage to be measured. If you want to measure 220 Volts, turn the
selector switch to 300 Volts (Analog Multimeter only) ** If you don't know the high voltage measured, it is
advisable to choose the highest voltage scale to avoid damage to the multimeter.
3. Connect the probe to the voltage terminal to be measured. For AC Voltage, there are no Negative (-) and Positive
(+) polarities.
4. Read the measurement results on the Multimeter Display.
3. HOW TO MEASURE ELECTRIC CURRENT (AMPERE)

1. Set the Position of the Selector Switch to DCA

2. Select the scale according to the estimated current to be measured. If the current to be measured is 100mA then
turn the selector switch to 300mA (0.3A). If the current measured exceeds the selected scale, the fuse in the
Multimeter will break. We have to replace it before we can use it again.
3. Disconnect Line power supply (power supply) connected to the load,
4. Then connect the Multimeter probe to the terminal path that we decided on. Red Probe to Positive (+) Voltage
Output and Black Probe to Voltage (+) Input Loads or Circuits that we will measure. For more details, please see
the following picture.
5. Read the measurement results on the Multimeter Display
4. HOW TO MEASURE RESISTORS (OHMS)

1. Set the Position of the Selector Switch to Ohms (Ω)

2. Select the scale according to the estimated Ohms to be measured. Usually it starts with an "X" which means
“Multiply". (Analog Multimeter only)
3. Connect the probe to the Resistor component, there is no polarity, so it may be reversed.
4. Read the measurement results on the Multimeter Display. (Especially for Analog Multimeter, it is needed to be
multiplied by the settings in step 2)
EARTH GROUND TESTER

 Earth Tester is a tool to measure the resistance value of the

grounding, the amount of ground resistance is very important
to know before grounding in a safety system in electrical
installations.
How to use :
On the switch select mode ·. · Press the push button. · See the
ground voltage indicator if the needle moves quickly until it is
stuck to the end of the volt meter, check the cable installation
again. · Adjust the ohm meter to the voltage value on the
galvanometer "0 volt". · Perform the installation earth tester as it
appears the distance L is equal to 5 meters. · Read the resistance
value read on the device. That is the value of soil resistance.
 Dimension : L x W x H = 10 cm x 8 cm x 4 cm

LUX METER
 Lux meter is a device used to measure light intensity or lighting
levels.
Function :
As the name implies, the function of the tool is as a measure of the
intensity of the light scattered in a place.
How to use :
1. The first step is to turn on the tool first by pressing the on
button
2. The second step is to select the range to be used as a benchmark
during the measurement process. Press the red button that says
range, then select the three level ranges that are displayed.
Actually, if you want to measure natural light it is recommended
to use the range of 2,000 lux because later the results will be
clearer and easier to read.
3. Then, the third step is to direct the light sensor to the angle of
the area where the amount of light intensity is to be known.
4. Then after the three processes are done well, how to read the
results depends on the range of the selected range, then
multiplied by the amount of 1 lux.

FREQUENCY METER

 Frequency meter is a meter used to measure the number of repetitions of

periodic movements per second.
 To find out the number of frequencies in the AC power circuit, we can use
the Frequency Meter. The frequency here is the large number of vibrations
that occur in an AC power circuit every second. This electric meter cannot
be used in DC power circuits because it has no frequency.
How to use :
1. Prepare a frequency meter with a vibrating tongue, connecting cable, and
stop contact.
2. Install the connecting cable correctly in the 2 holes meter frequency.
3. Connect simultaneously 2 cables that have been paired on
4. the frequency meter to the top of a contact that is alternating electric
current or current AC electricity.
5. The measurement results can be obtained from the vibrating tongue that
shakes the most quick

INSULATION METER & *MEGOHMETER
*same tool
 Insulation Tester is a device commonly used to measure the value of
the resistance or resistance (resistance) of the insulation (insulation)
that wraps the conductive material used in electric cables.
How to use :
1. Check the battery.
2. Perform calibration
Calibration is done when the off position of the pointer must be exactly coincide with the scale line (if
with analog) When using digital make sure the display (screen) points to zero. If it is incorrect, set the
zero pointer (10) to the gauge (analog)
3. Perform electrical zero checks
Attach the test cable to the megger terminal, and short circuit the other end. Place the selector switch
in position 500. Put the scale selector switch in the position of scale 1. Turn on the megger, the needle
will move and must point exactly to the zero frame, if it does not set the pointer correctly. If the
pointer settings do not work (the designation does not reach zero) then the battery needs to be
checked again.
4. Attach the test cable to the measured equipment.
5. Select the Measurement Scale
If using a digital type just turn the selector switch and position the switch in accordance with the above
conditions earlier on the matter that must be considered.
6. On megger, read the display on the scale

There are also people who call multimeters as AVO meters,
maybe they mean A (amperes),V (volts), and O (ohms).

OHMMETER

 Ohmmeter is a device that measures the amount of electricity

that is produced as an electron shifts through an electrical
conductor. Also known as electrical resistance, its value is
expressed in units of "ohms.
 The workings of this measuring instrument are quite simple and
simple by producing an internal flow of current. The device that
uses battery power will measure the resistance or resistance that
occurs between the two directions found on the device.
 The red end of the cable is connected to the pole (+). While the
black color must be connected to the pole (-). When the current
starts to flow from the battery component through a unit, that's
when the Ohm-meter starts to measure the voltage drop and the
resistance value.
