Introduction
• Problem setting
• Street mishaps have been and will keep on being one of the greatest
health hazards. Factually, it has been demonstrated that the quantity of
death and injuries are due to street mishaps.
• Around 1.25 million people around the world died due to road accident
every year.
• Most of these fatal accidents occur due to over speeding.
• Speeding-related crashes cause approximately more than 10,000 deaths
annually in the Philippines.
• One of the technical causes of road accident is selfishness in terms of
sharing road rights.
Introduction
• Problem setting
• In addition, new electric vehicles are more silent and faster that the
drivers can’t able to recognize the approaching vehicle.
• Furthermore, reckless drivers tend to overtake other vehicles that caused
major accident.
Introduction
• Review of Related Literature
• Different studies were conducted to minimized possible road accidents
caused by over speeding. Police officers uses speed gun to detect over
speeding vehicles
• Previous researchers utilize IR transmitter and IR receiver to peruse the
speed of an over speeding vehicles in an accident prone area.
• Other research uses radio frequency and Mems sensor to detect speed.
Introduction
• Review of Related Literature
• Ultrasonic sensor is also used along with radar gun to recognise the over
speeding vehicle.
• Further studies aim to control the speed of the vehicle automatically.
• Other techniques use camera image processing and it leads to people
being aware of it and reduce the speed.
• Radar gun which works on the principle of Doppler effect.
Introduction
• Review of Related Literature
• Radar is also used as well as a camera to capture the plate number of the
over speeding vehicle.
• All of this research aims to prevent road accident by reading the speed on
over speeding vehicle and to alarm the police officers and the toll gate.
• Yet there is no recent research conducted that installed a speed detector
on a vehicle to alarm the driver of the speed of the following vehicle.
Introduction
• Research Gap
• In contrast to a car, drivers of motor bikes don't have doors, air bags or a
bumper to protect them from impacts with property and different
vehicles.
• Other drivers on the road are often oblivious to motor bikes simply
because they cannot always see them in their rear- and side-view mirrors.
• Drivers can cut off motor bikes or even run into them.
Introduction
• Research Gap
• Previous studies about speed identifier are focuses on a device that can
help police and different implementers to find vehicles during over speed
limit by utilizing the speed firearm.
• Some are utilizing various sensors yet a similar useful of speed firearm.
• Those devices of an existing study are meant for the police officers to
detect vehicles during over speed limit.
• This involves manpower with a person holding the gun.
Introduction
• Research Gap
• The distinction between other research and this proposed study is the
device itself is implemented on the motorcycle.
• It aims to help drivers to be aware and alarmed especially in road
accidents.
• This study is very meticulous because of the sensors that are being used.
• One factor is the accuracy of the sensor to detect the speed.
• Aside from this, the sensor should detect only vehicles in motion.
Introduction
• Objectives of the Study

1. General Objectives:

• This study aims to build a system that will detect an approaching vehicle
that generates alarm when it overtakes.
Introduction
• Objectives of the Study
1. Specific Objectives:
To design a device that will detect speed and direction of approaching
vehicles and generates alarm when it overtakes.
• To build the Automated Alarm System and Speeding Detection on Overtaking
Vehicles for Motorcycles.
• To test the device in terms:
a. Accuracy of Speed Detection.
b. Accuracy of the Alarm.
c. Precision of the Speed and Alarm System.
Introduction
• Significance of the Study
• This study is to give awareness not just for the driver itself but also to the
other drivers. By the help of this device it can possibly avoid road
accidents.
• Also, more and more systems can be developed with the new knowledge
that this study may impart.
Introduction
• Scope and Limitation
• The focus of this study is to use radar sensor to detect speed and alarmed
when there’s an approaching vehicle behind the motorcycle.
• Aside from this, the sensor should detect only vehicles in motion.
• By utilizing two radar sensors, it can distinguish just the first two vehicles
that approaches in quite a while extend.
• The range is up to 40 meters.
• One sensor can detect eighty degrees and by adding one sensor it will
detect 160 degrees over all.
• This device can be used only in urban area.
