The Adventure of Alex
One day there is a community near on the
sea side. In that community there is a child
named Alex. Alex loves to study about
earthquakes and tsunami, one day they
tackled in their school about the tsunami,
how it forms and the cause of it’s
regeneration. The next two days they
experienced a minor earthquake followed
by a major earthquake after a few minutes
they saw the water move far from the
seashore and they saw a tsunami and hit
their community but Alex and her family
survived. Alex wants to know the cause of it.
Activity 1
Alex wants to know what are
the connected phenomenon
to the tsunami lets help her to
find out.

of the surface of the Earth movement of a mass of rock,
debris, or earth down a
resulting from a sudden slope. Landslides are a type of
release of energy in the "mass wasting," which denotes any
Earth's lithosphere that down-slope movement of soil and
rock under the direct influence of

TIDES - the alternate rising and falling of the sea, usually twice in each lunar day at a particular
place, due to the attraction of the moon and sun.
STORMS - a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder,
lightning, or snow
EARTHQUAKE - a sudden and violent shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great
destruction, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action
ATLANTIC OCEAN- body of salt water covering approximately one-fifth of Earth's surface and
separating the continents of Europe and Africa to the east from those of North and South America
to the west.
INDIAN OCEAN- an ocean bordered by Africa in the west, Asia in the north, and Australia in the
east and merging with the Antarctic Ocean in the south.
PACIFIC OCEAN- the largest and deepest of Earth's oceanic divisions. It extends from the Arctic
Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean (or, depending on definition, to Antarctica) in the south
and is bounded by the continents of Asia and Australia in the west and the Americas in the east.
MEDIAN- denoting or relating to a value or quantity lying at the midpoint of a frequency
distribution of observed values or quantities, such that there is an equal probability of falling above
or below it.
TROUGH- is the opposite of a crest, so the minimum or lowest point in a cycle.
CREST- is the point on a wave with the maximum value of upward displacement within a cycle. A
crest is a point on a surface wave where the displacement of the medium is at a maximum.
