KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES

Summing up I have learned the following within this period of three months that I have been
at the Main workshop both Truck and Auxiliary Sections including;

SAFETY: As it refers to keeping yourself and others free from harm or danger. Avoiding
accidents by being careful with what you are doing so I have learned a lot on safety staring
from safety of the machine, tools, Environment.
This is the major Area that I have been learning each and every single day that I go to work,
to observe and adhere to all safety procedures as It is always encouraged and advised to
assess and identify hazards associated with work before performing any task.
Figure 11: Safety signs
TEAM WORK: I have learned that working as the team is way more productive than working
individually as collaboration is one of the many keys to complete a task in the most effective
and efficient way.
INSPECTION AND TROUBLESHOOTING: During my time at the main workshop I have
learned a lot on performing proper inspection and Troubleshooting of various machine
systems and components. Troubleshooting is the first step in the equipment repair process,
it sometimes takes the longest especially if the people involved are not familiar with the
piece of equipment or with the necessary sequence of events to follow in quickly and
efficiently finding the root cause, making a repair action and returning the equipment into
service.

SERVICE, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: Also I have learned a lot on the process of
retaining the machines into their specified state in which the machine can perform its
required functions through tests, measurements, replacements, adjustments and repair.

VALUE ADDED

For this quarter that I have been at the HME Main workshop Truck and Auxiliary Section I
have in one way or the other contributed to or adding value to the sections and to the
organization as a whole by Being a good ambassador of Safety, a brother keeper and
Increasing man power.
CHALLENGES

The biggest challenge that I encountered during my time that I have been at the main
workshop is the Shift interchanging (Four Four) as sometimes there is no continuation of
work so I lose some of the procedures that led the work success and this is because the
task that couldn’t be finished during day time due various reasons will be finished at night by
the night shift.
WAYS APPLIED TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES

1. Follow-up: What I did and continue on doing in order to overcome this challenge is
following up either directly to people who attended the machine or to others who have
experience on a specific task by asking what they did, how they did it and what where
the challenges that they faced.
2. Using Computer Assistance: Also I would sometimes use computer assistance software
such as Service Information System (SIS) to check for procedures that needs to be
carried out when performing maintenance
3. Adding my working hours: From the challenge of shift interchanging, I also have to
extend my working hours sometimes so as I can be able to participating in finishing a
task as sometimes tasks have been carried in late hours.
CONCLUSION

For the time I have been at the Workshop I have been getting a really helpful experience
from different kind of maintenance and services, from different machines and from my
teammate. I will do my best using my knowledge, skills and experience I’m getting here to
make myself better in trouble shooting, problem solving and maintenance so I can directly or
indirectly bring positive effects to my teammate and to the company.
