 SACRAMENT OF PENANCE

The Sacrament of Penance or

Reconciliation is one of the seven
sacraments of the Catholic Church, in which
the faithful obtain absolution for the sins
committed against God and neighbor and
are reconciled with the community of the
Church.
- We receive God’s forgiveness
*sin-turning away from or saying
“No” to God and others
*Penitent- a person sorry for his/ her
sins
*Confession- acknowledgement of a
sin to a priest to obtain absolution
*Act of Contrition- prayer prayed after
the confession asking for God’s pardon

* Absolution- the sign of God’s pardon

that reconciles the penitent with Christ
FLOW OF CONFESSION

1. Greet the priest and do the Sign of the

Cross.
2. Mention your sins.
3. Listen attentively to the priest for the
absolution.
4. Pray the Act of Contrition.
5. Do the Sign of the Cross and say “Thank you.”
 ACT OF CONTRITION

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having

offended You. I detest all my sins because I
dread the loss of heaven and the pains of
hell. But most of all because I have
offended You, my God who are all good and
deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with
the help of Your grace, to confess my sins,
to do penance and to amend my life, Amen.
Activity:
