INTRODUCTION

Telecommunication is the transmission of


information over significant distances to
communicate.
In earlier times, telecommunication
involved the use of usual signals, such as,
smoke signals, semaphore telegraphs,
signal flags
.

What is telecommunication?
The transmission of information that allows
communication between people who are
separated by distances.
FOR EXAMPLE

• Mobile cellular system


• Satellite communication system
• Telephone system
• Microwave radio system
• Information and intelligent gathering

• It began with the invention of telephone in


1876
• Then radio broadcasting started in late 1800s
• Then television in the early 1900s
• In the current era telecommunication include
the internet, cellular phone networks etc.
UNITS OF
TELECOMMUNICATION

There are three units of telecommunication


• A transmitter that takes information and converts it to
a signal
• A transmission medium, also called the ‘physical
channel’ that carries the signal
• A receiver that carries the signal from the channel and
converts it back into usable information

connect with customer and colleagues’
This can include basic things like telephone and
fax, and more recent technologies such as voice
over internet services
The types of telecommunication used may vary
from company and depend widely on the business’s
individual need

• SENDER
who uses a transmitter which converts the
message into a signal.
• TRANSMITTER
transmit the information through a
medium to the receiver which transmit the signals into
information that can be used and understood by
people.

transmitter and a receiver.
