Introduction

 We are trying to make a city car. It will be small but

comfortable. We are trying to make it as a one seater car. It will
be full electric. So, it can be an environment friendly car.

5
Objectives
This research points on some targets on the basis of current
situation in our Dhaka city and how the traffic condition is
now a days. The objectives are denoted here:

• The main objective of this project is to build a solar car to

manage transport for people travelling a certain amount of
distance every day for Dhaka city.

• Since cars are the major mode of transport for office commuters
in Dhaka city, shifting to this eco-friendly car would be
beneficial on an enormous scale.
6
 This research aims to reduce the usage of fossil fuel
powered vehicle and design environment friendly electric
power vehicle.

 The vehicle would be able to shuttle safely a maximum

round trip distance of 25km for example from Abdullapur
to Motijheel or Uttara to Gazipur, which are considered as
the largest office travelling distances in Dhaka city. So,
the research will show the proof that this is easily
possible.
7
 Therefore, this research of the proto-type solar powered car
paves the way specifically for the daily office goers of Dhaka
city with such a vehicle which would be light-weight, clean,
environment friendly and completely independent of fossil
fuels.

8
Scope of the Research
 The current research investigated the premise that a single
seater solar powered car will be a viable option and reduce
pollution in helping people commute to office. The developed
model for this research will be a one seater solar car having up
to 300 kg weight varying on driver weight.

9
 The body will be made from locally available and often
recycled materials such as plywood board for the body
and chassis made from flat iron angle bars. The
dimensions of the car will be of sub-compact category and
will only be able to charge from sunlight when in parking
mode in the office lot. During operation, the charged
battery will drain and support up to 5 hours of driving
time which will be sufficient for commuting to and fro
from office.

Methodology

Problem and solution
 We faced problem with the weight distribution . The load on
the front wheel was vary high. So we counter the weight of the
driver by the weight of the battery.

13
 We faced another problem with chain and gear coupling. Our
chain was falling down frequently . So we search and find out
the problem in the axel. It was not properly balanced. We
solved the problem now it is working better.

14
Why we used 750 watt motor
 The total weight of our car is approximately 300 kg . A 750
watt motor can take the load of 500 kg.

15
Battery
 For running a 750 watt motor we need 48 volt so we used 12 volt 4
batteries. Our battery is 100 Ah.

Backup time : 100Ah*12v*4*.8/750=5.12 hour

How much time it takes to get full charge :
100Ah/10A=10 hour
16
Solar panel
 For charging 100Ah battery we need 10 A charge. And a 100
watt solar panel can provide 5 A charge. So for charging 1
battery we need 100 watt 2 solar panels. So for charging 4
battery we need total 100 watt 8 solar panel. But there are some
power loss . So we will not get 800 watt all the time . So we
will use 1000 watt panel.

17
Conclusion
 At the end of this report, it is clear that solar car can be proper
substitute of private vehicles as it requires less space. Running
in 25 to 30 km/h could be well enough for Dhaka city as traffic
jam is a biggest problem for the office going people. We highly
hope and believe that this car could go for commercial purpose
by industrially manufacturing it so that people can use with
less cost.

18
Recommendations
There are some suggestions on this content after preparing
this report. Those are:
 To do more research on this topic will allow more nature
friendly system for us.

 There were many difficulties in preparing this report such as

lack of information, lack of tools etc. It is better to solve these
problems during research.

 People of Dhaka city can choose this car more for their office
going purpose if the car could be manufactured in significant
level without less error as the cost can be reduced. 19
