Reading is the complex cognitive process of

decoding symbols to derive meaning. It is a
form of language processing.
Success in this process is measured as
reading comprehension.
 Types of Reading

There are three different styles of reading :

• Skimming

• Scanning

• In-depth reading
 In-depth reading
Reading in depth means reading a text more
carefully.mean that you should take enough time and
focus to make sure that you truly understand what the
text is saying

Skimming Scanning
The action of reading something Scanning is reading a text quickly

act of reading, for purposes of

if one is comprehending the text

Questioning
Engaging in learning dialogues with
text (authors), peers, and teachers
through self-questioning, question
generation, and question answering
 Searching Summarizing
Selecting
Restating the meaning of text in one's
