SYNOPSIS

▪ This course covers topics of principle of well control as an

introduction, formation pressure analysis, kick detection &
monitoring and the behaviour of kick in different type of mud, Shut-
in procedure, fluid dynamic in well control (well killing method) and
well control equipment .
▪ In addition this course will also covers the well control equipment and
the student will also be exposed to the practical in the lab using the
drilling simulator.
▪ The course will draw upon the principals of well integrity while
drilling and combine with an understanding of operation in a safe and
controlled environment

ELIAS ABLLAH, PETROLEUM ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, UTP

OBJECTIVES

▪ To provide good understanding of the fundamental of well control

that can be applied to most well control operations.
▪ To manage pressure in well and well control operations
▪ To understand well control equipment and their procedures
▪ To select and understand of well control method for various kick
scenario
